In the beginning...

In early 1993 when Jon and Des first met, they found that they both had a mutual interest in music, and writing originals. Although initially the band was called
Untamed, other names such as Persuader had been considered.
Rock Bottom was finally decided upon and
the band eventually consisted of Jon Gray on guitar/lead vocals, Des Donnenwirth-guitar, Theresa (then Donnenwirth) on bass, and Linc Feltner on drums and lead vocals. The band was ready to roll. They had no idea what they were in for!
WANTED: Equipment looking for a band. Seeking long term commitment...
The band began playing  in Shelby area appearing at local clubs such as the Rhythm Bowl, the Eagles, and the American Legion. In the context of the local music scene, Rock Bottom were doing things a bit differently by playing tunes that just weren't being performed by other local bands. This idea complimented with Jon's powerful singing and Des' "Tribute To Jimi Page" bow solos, crowds of people came to see the band.

The band entered the Battle Of The Bands contest at Snow Trails in 1996. The band took first place with an all original set. Jon's unique style of  songwriting along with the very creative styling that Des has, these two seemingly different styles complimented each other very well.
And those in attendance agreed.

Charlie Shaffer joined the band in early 1996 and musically fit right in with the Rock Bottom Boys. Charlie was certainly a veteran musician and he  also lent a hand in the lead vocal department as well.

The band made recording original music a priority  throughout the better part of the year. The original tunes became heavily requested and when playing live, the originals had become a staple of the sets.
