Cheddar Muffins


2 cups flour
1 Tbls sugar
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbls baking powder
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
2 Tbls salad oil
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Sift together the first 5 ingredients. Whisk milk, egg and oil and stir into dry ingredients. Fold in cheese and pour into well-greased muffin tins and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.  Cool 5 minutes in pan, then remove the muffins and serve warm with butter or jam.
