Sump with down-draft skimmer powered by a Mag 7.
Valve (red handle) is from overflow in tank. Heaters (2 150 watt Ebo-Jaegers) and pH probe are in sump.
Another view of the skimmer. This skimmer is probably the best reef tank investment that I have made. Just look at all that gunk! You can see the heaters, pH probe, and ground probe (red wire) on the left.
View of top of tank showing light canopy. This canopy is made of aluminum. It is double-walled (to keep outer surface cool) with a Lexan shield. It was built for me by a friend who makes panels for large industrial equipment and he built it for FREE!
Q. What's better than owning a lot of metal working equipment?
A. Having a friend who owns a lot of metal working equipment.
The lighting consists of 2 175 watt 10,000K German MH bulbs and 2 40 watt actinic bulbs cooled by 2 4" 110v fans.
This canopy works very well, it is light and easy to move around. If I had it to do over again I would make it a little taller in order to raise the lights a little higher.
View of the pump, a Little Giant 2MD, very old.
I am about to replace this pump with something much larger, just not sure what yet.
