History of Drumaheagles LOL 1099 (page 3)
On the Saturday 17th June 2000 Drumaheagles Orange Hall was officially re-opened after a period of 5 years hard work and fundraising. The old building was gutted, reroofed, renovated and brought up to current building and safety regulation, toilet facilities and an excellent working kitchen were added. The old Lodge room was demolished and replaced with a new and larger Lodge room which provide an excellent meeting venue for the organisations which use Drumaheagles Orange Hall.
On the occasion of the re-opening Brethren and bands assembled in the centre of Balnamore village and paraded to Drumaheagles Orange Hall. When nearing the Orange Hall the parade wet their feet on water sourced from the River Boyne, symbolically crossing that famous river like King William III at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. The Worshipful District Master Bro. Mervyn Ferris chaired platform proceeding outside the Orange Hall, our District Chaplain Right Worshipful Brother Rev W J Watson, MA MBE, conducted the religious proceedings. The excellent Dunaghy No Surrender Accordion Band provided musical accompaniment to the hymns. The guest speakers were Worshipful Brother Harold Gracey, District Master of Portadown LOL 1, Right Worshipful Brother Robert McIlroy, County Grand Master of Antrim and Most Worshipful Brother Robert S Saulters, Grand Master of Ireland. Then the bit everyone had been waiting for, our Worshipful Master, Bro Stanley Stewart, to officially re-open our Orange Hall, presented the Grand Master, Bro Saulters with a golden ceremonial key.
Proceedings then moved inside the Hall, Bro Rev W J Watson rededicated Drumaheagles Orange Hall, to the Glory of God and in Memory of King William III, Prince of Orange. The Grand Master to rapturous applause unveiled a commemorative Brass Plaque.
We now look forward to the future with renewed enthusiasm with over 40 members in our Lodge to continuing to defend and promote the reformed faith. On Saturday 7th June 2003 our Lodge unfurled a new Banner - on the front is a painting of Moses receiving the 10 commandments with the Bble and Crown inset and on the reverse is portrait of the late Bro. Sir W V McCleery and our Orange Hall. The future is still Bright and the future is still Orange
