In this category I have placed information on various goddesses and gods of different Celtic systems of belief. I hope to eventually have a fairly extensive list here, so if you have a favorite or patron deity you would like to see included here please contact me and let me know.

The Tuatha De Dannann are widely accepted as the Gods of the Irish people. All Celts had their own names for gods/goddesses, but today the most widely known and accepted names for those gods come from the Tuatha De Dannann pantheon. Keep in mind that each tribe had its own names for deities which were most likely different from the next tribe's. However, most of the deities called upon by the Celts had similar aspects or functions, regardless of the name used to call them. For example, among one tribe the god of knowledge and wisdom was called Ogham, while another tribe might call him Ogmios, and a third tribe called upon him as Ogma. Between tribes, a specific deity might even change gender. For example, there are early references to a god of darkness called Lachnos or Lachnois. However, a later legend from another tribe calls Lachnos a goddess of darkness. Certain aspects of this deity changed with the gender switch (the god was seen as harsh and bad, while the goddess was seen more as a comforter), but the essential function, that of a deity of darkness, remained the same.
Therefore, being aware that different tribes called deities by different names, it is all right to use whatever name you personally know for a god, even if it does not appear on the list below. Among the Tuath De Dannann Irish pantheon, there are still in use some names for deities that are different than what we list below. This does not mean that either name is invalid, rather that both names are valid, for though the Tuath is an Irish pantheon, remember that the Irish people began as many separate tribes (and some would argue still are today *smile*).

Aengus is the healer of souls. He is in charge of healing both the spirit and the mind.
