Beth - Birch Moon. The first Full Moon after Yule in January, is the Moon of Inception or Beginnings. The darkness is starting to give way to the light and the year is just starting. The world is not yet fully alive, but the seeds of its awakening were planted at the Winter Solstice.
Luis - Rowan Moon. In February we find the Spirit Moon, this is the time of Imbolq and spirits are reborn into flesh and blood in this month as livestock give birth. Rowan is able to heal but it also aids in divination.
Nion - Ash Moon. March brings us the Moon of Waters, as the first of the spring rains fall upon us. Ash has the properties of healing, prosperity and protection.
Fearn - Alder Moon. April brings us the Moon of Utility, with the long Winter over we start to take action. The Alder has many magickal properties aiding in teaching, weather magick, learning, and spirituality.
Saille -Willow Moon. In May we have the Moon of Balance. Willow is one of the strongest of trees because of its ability to bend, many sturdier trees snap easily during strong storms when the Willow easily weathers them out.
Uath - Hawthorn Moon. June is the Moon of Restraint, As Willow teaches us how to find strength in balance the Hawthorn teaches us strength through resisting that which we know is bad for us in excess. We give in to relaxing but not at the cost of living life to the fullest.
Duir - Oak Moon. July finds the Moon of Strength and Security as Oak is strong and proud. From the Oak we learn what it is to be strong in and of ourselves. Oak can be used for male magicks, and bringing fidelity.
Tinne - Holly Moon. August is the Moon of Polarity or Encirclement and the Holly teaches us how to find the inner and outer balance within ourselves. Its magickal properties include protection, prophecy, animal magick and sex magick.
Coll -Hazel Moon. September is the month of the Crone Moon. This Moon is especially useful for invoking the spirit and the Hazel has the properties of manifestation, spirit contact, protection and fertility.
Muin - Vine Moon. October is the Moon of Celebration. Although there are many types of Vines and each has its own properties the Vines get the Moon of Celebration because grapes and Wine come from Vines. As such Vines teach us about inspiration, prosperity, dreams, courage and fertility.
Gort -Ivy Moon. November is the Moon of Resilience or Buoyancy. It is a reminder that in this trying time of year we have our friends to keep us afloat and help us bounce back from stress. Ivy has the properties of healing, protection, cooperation, and exorcism.
Ngetal - Reed Moon. December is the Moon of the Home, and the Reed has properties relating to families, protection, love and fertility. During this time of year we spend a lot of time bundled up in our homes surrounded by those we love.
Our 13th Full moon, which can occur almost anywhere throughout the year, is the Ruis or Elder Moon. This is the Moon of Completeness. It is the second Full Moon of the month, or the Fourth in a Season- the � Blue Moon �, the Elder is useful for banishing, healing and prosperity. |
