What's on TV: August 2003 - Star Trek High preview
  • Well, now I'm torn. UPN's Enterprise has broken a barrier. Not a good barrier mind you. In fact, a horrible barrier. The show is the pitts. "What are they doing?" I ask myself every episode. Well, some people maybe asking themselves this, and Paramount later this year when THE WB unveils Star Trek High, a high school version of Star Trek.
  • I am not a whiz at Star Trek, but from the fans point of view, certain characters would never meet each other, but STH is forgetting the classic Star Trek and acting as if it never existed.
  • I got a chance to see the pilot episode this past week and have to say, after hearing about the show and becoming depresed, I actually...LOVED THIS. The show starts off with a the entrance of a huge ship known as the "Falon Sky". Then a locker slams and the theme by Kenny Loggins begins. Every show will start off with the same intro and song. It is three minutes long and plays like a music video (though Loggins is never seen). More lockers slam and the cast is introduced. Among them is Eric Christian Olsen (who can be seen later this summer in the movie, Dumb and Dumberer) who throws a math book in his locker than begins eating a banana. He plays Data, the vice president. The principal (who happens to be gay) is that of the character of Nelix. For spoiler sakes, we won't reveal any of the meaty plot lines though expect enough teen soap drama to fill a couple hundred bathtubs. I will also say, the first episode deals with some teenage drama with Data's girlfriend becoming pregnant and the choices that follow. (SPOILER::::::: Data and his girlfriend decide to give birth to the baby. They name him William T. Riker ::::::::::)
  • With a huge marketing campaign from THE WB, expect STH to be a huge hit among teenagers. Lunchboxes, PEPSI cans, bags of Doritos, Taco Bell, candy bars, and sports drinks are all ready to be shipped this July to guarantee a huge hit. Look for this show in August. IT WILL BE HUGE.
