Work Related Injuries
I am going to address the basic rules you must follow when involved in an on the job injury.
Some employers will allow you to seek care immediately with the doctor of your choice or they may insist you see the company doctor.
If you are forced to see the company doctor, do so. However, you are under no obligation to continue with their care after the initial appointment. At this time you may call our office and have your care transferred to our office. If you go back to the company doctor for a second appointment it will lock you in with that doctor for your treatment. You can ask for a transfer to our office after the second appointment with the company doctor, but it is much more involved in making a change at that time.
Remember:
1) Report your injury to your employer
2) Ask your employer if you can directly seek treatment with your own doctor
3) If you must see the company doctor, do so for the first appointment, then call our office to have your care transferred to our office.
4) If you go to the company doctor for a second appointment it locks you into that doctor. You can still change treatment to our office, but it is much more difficult to do so.

While I sincerely hope you are never injuried on the job or anywhere else, I feel it is important that you know these rules. Wouldn't you fell more comfortable being treated by someone you know, who has your best interest at heart.
