Breast Cancer

A study from the Harvard School of Public Health has shown that eating lots of fruits and vegetables in adult life has no effect on breast cancer. This finding flies in the face of another study by the American Institute for Cancer Research which showed that eating fruits and vegetables cut the risk of breast cancer in half. And the latest findings follow another study that debunked previous thinking about breast cancer that eating a low-fat diet was helpful.

The truth about breast cancer is that it remains basically a hormonal disease. Diet, exercise, and several other factors can influence hormones. But most women are awash in hormones. These are hormones and hormone mimickers from drugs, chemicals, manipulated foods, and supplements. The study did not look at these factors, nor fruit and vegetable consumption in women throughout their younger years.

It is remarkable that experts are looking for some statistical edge of a few percentage points in the fight against breast cancer, while they continue to overlook major factors that are low-tech. Here are some examples:

Exercising four to five times a week reduces the odds of breast cancer by 35%. Wearing a bra less than 10 hours a day reduces the odds by 200% to 800%. Limiting red meat to four times per week will reduce the odds. Avoiding organochlorines (chlorine compounds from herbicides, pesticides and chlorinated water) will reduce the odds by 1,000% (10 times). Sunshine reduces the risk of breast cancer due to its vitamin D connection. Reducing prescription drugs (especially estrogen, beta-blockers, and anti-depressants) will reduce the odds. And taking a tablespoon of flax oil, eliminating processed fats and oils, and getting adequate amounts of organic iodine and B vitamins will go a long way toward reducing your odds of getting breast cancer.

For now, I will continue to advise my patients to eat plenty of vegetables. These contain phytochemicals that are known cancer fighters. One of the world's experts on breast cancer- Dr. Susan Love concurs with these basics facts regarding breast cancer prevention.

A dramatic study from Sweden of 600,000 women aged 50 to 70 had expected to show a 25 to 30% decrease in mortality with the use of mammography over a seven year study. Instead, the reduction in breast cancer mortality was only 1%. Did you know this?

Avoid chlorine and fluoride like the plague. Eliminate it from your drinking water, showers and baths.

Take a tablespoon of raw flax oil daily. If you can't handle the taste there are other alternatives we use.

I recommend 3 to 6 Cataplex B from Standard Process daily. This vit. B complex contains a myriad of B vitamins and nutrients. I will be discussing the full details of vitamin B in a future article.

Get plenty of exercise, eat vegetables (especially in younger years), and follow the other simple guidelines recommended in this article.

Don't count on mammograms or the next high-tech medical breakthrough. All these combined do not equal the breast-saving advice to women to wear their bra less! And what doctor has ever mentioned this to you? Keep in mind that breast cancer is, for the most part, a hormone disease. That is why avoiding hormones, drugs, and toxins that wreak havoc on hormones (like chlorine compounds) is so effective at lowering your risk. It is also why the supplements listed are so effective at lowering your risk.
