1 1/2 cup warm water 1 envelope active dry yeast 4 cups flour 1 tablespoon honey (to activate the yeast) 1 teaspoon salt 1 egg
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Mix the warm water, yeast and honey. Set aside for five minutes.
Mix the salt and flour in a separate bowl. Add the yeast mixture to the salt and four mixture and stir together.
Beat the egg and set aside.
Get your children to help handle the dough. The more it is handles the flatter the pretzels will be.
Brush the pretzels with the beaten egg to make them shiny. Then sprinkle with salt.
Bake for 12 minutes.
For kids, you can make the pretzels look like circles, squares, hearts, letters. Have fun!!! |
