Easter of 2004 (Based on Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams)
I had myself a great time
Did my first real cycling tour
It all kicked off at Lands End
Was the Easter of 2004
Me and some friends from home
Had a plan and we tried real hard
Bikes broke, we were exhausted
I shouldve known wed not get that far
When I look back now
That fortnight seemed to last for ever
If asked to do it again
Im sure the answer would be never
That trip was harder than anything before
Aint no use in complaining
But we complained anyway
About how this trip was tiring
And the hills in our way,
Yeah
Pushing the bikes uphill
Through all that awful weather
Getting punctures, falling off
We reached the end of our tether
Our backs hurt bad and legs were sore
Oh yeah
Back in the Easter of 2004
Man, we were losing time
We got delayed
It was far from fine
I guess nothing could last for ever
For ever, no.
John OGroats was a distant memry
We were pleased to have got this far
With no real targets, we had a good time
Next year were gonna go by car
Catching the train back home
We reflected on our endeavour
All the places we had been
It was something we could treasure
Cycling from Lands End to Edinburgh
Oh yeah
It was the Easter of 2004
