Jagen Halin
Appearance:
5 foot 7 inches in height. Her red hair goes down near to her waist and is
always kept in the Taraboner braids. She also will (usually only) wear Taraboner-cut
dresses (kind of form fitting and high necked) and always wears the veil,
too--she put it back on the day she was raised. She wears the finest of clothes
and nothing less (she likes spoiling herself and feels she deserves it), but
never wears jewelry except her serpent ring.
Personality:
She's a woman who likes sticking to tradition, and is a woman of business. She
doesn't like playing around. She's also distant to those she doesn't know, but a
bit warmer to those she does. She enjoys working for the White Tower and her
Ajah and doesn't concern herself with much else--after all she knows her life
before the WT was nothing. She enjoys going to Tanchico but rather forget her
past on the farm. Of course, in the Tower, she does try to get into whatever she
can--she likes knowing what’s going on with anyone important and she likes
knowing all the time. It helps her choose her friends from 'enemies' and gives
potential to pair up with someone on an adventure or two.
History:
Jagen Halin grew up just outside the capital on a farm, where she helped her
mother weave rugs for business. At age sixteen she started working in the
Panarch’s Palace as a servant for extra money and to get away from the farm.
One of the reasons she did this was because of her happening to catch a meeting
between her stepfather and a man who was later found out as a Darkfriend.
Figuring Darin, her stepfather, was one too, but at first too scared to warn her
mother, she fled to the city to work. While working in the palace, a visited Aes
Sedai of the Gray Ajah sensed the ability to channel in Jagen as she was serving
the Sister and the Panarch drinks. After the Sister’s business was concluded,
she brought Jagen to the Tower, and not against her will since Jagen wanted to
get farther away from where she was now, and her current position. At the Tower,
Jagen paid swift attention to her studies and only got in trouble a few times;
whenever an Accepted or another novice ticked her off she found various ways to
get back at them, including rubbing itchweed in dresses, using the Power to make
chair legs weak (and have the person consequently fall on the floor) and even
once dunking a girl’s head in sink water after being insulted. But over all,
she was a good student, advancing a bit faster than average; she spent six years
as a novice and five as Accepted; by the time she was 27 she became an Aes Sedai
of the Red Ajah and, with much enthusiasm, began learning all she had to about
her Ajah.
