February 2008

Most of these photos have snow in them ... probably because we had a very snowy month. In fact, Oskaloosa had close to 40 inches of snow in February alone. The kids enjoy playing in the snow, but even Andrew was asking when it would be spring. One day, it was sunny but below freezing temps, and he asked if he could go in the pool. "But the sun is shining!" he said.
Big snow #1: Feb. 3. We were predicted to get one inch or so, but we measured 13 inches in our yard. It was hard for the kids to get around, but Andrew figured out how to  plow through and Morgan followed. It stopped snowing towards evening, so that's why we were outside when it was getting dark. On the back deck, the snow just piled up on the railing.
The next day, the snow was already starting to melt, which made it great for building a snowman and being outside in "warm" (above freezing) temps. Morgan walked through the paths while Drew prefered laying down and making snow angels. The unfortunate thing about the warmer temperature meant that Frosty had a short life. His body started melting and his head fell off by dark. The kids actually found it amusing, but we did have to pray for Frosty for several days. :0)
