Aug 2007  Part 1 (Click on photo to enlarge.)
Our vacation to California was lots of fun by all. Andrew can't stop talking about going in an airplane. We made stops in Long Beach, Riverside, Oceanside and San Diego. Several pages of photos show some of our highlights. Page 2 Page 3
After supper, we headed to the beach! The kids weren't sure what to think when we arrived, but quickly loved the sand and ocean.
Ready for take-off! Waiting for our plane in the Des Moines airport. Our plane was delayed, and we were seconds away from missing our connection in Dallas. Whew!
One of our first items of business was to check out the pool at Great Grandma Baumer's condo complex. She lives in Long Beach.
Of course, jumping on Great Grandma's bed is pretty fun, too!
The kids have never seen a pile of sand they didn't like. If only they could have this much sand in their backyard!
Family pic just before sunset, appropriately at Sunset Beach.
Here we are on the pier at Huntington Beach.
Building sandcastles at Sunset Beach.
More sand fun.
Morgan loves the sand so much, she just can't get enough! It might be a little hard to see, but Morgan's body and face are pretty much covered in sand.
The next day, we headed to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. The kids check out some small sharks and sting rays in the touch pool.
One of the favorite spots at the aquarium was this giant squid water sprayer thingy.
Mom and the kids had some fun jumping in the waves, mostly just getting their feet wet.
Here we are on a pedestrian bridge in downtown Long Beach. You have to love the people who come up with nifty inventions. Our two strollers were hooked together to make one double stroller. Speaking of our strollers, we thought we were never going to see them again. We learned that there is aparently no guarantee that your gate-checked luggage will get to your destination. Our strollers missed our flight and took a detour through Washington, DC. They eventually were delivered to Long Beach. If only we could get their frequent flyer miles!
We took a similar photo two years ago when visiting Great Grandma Baumer. Amazing how things change in just two years!
