The town of Pedregal (Population: approx.: 4,000) is known for its ideal climate as well as its dramatic, breathtaking surroundings.  Striking a careful balance on the US/Mexico border, just outside downtown Baja, Pedregal is a place where everyone knows everyone; as well as their business.  While the populus is mixed, ranging from middle class to multibillionaires, there is no denying who the town is truly run by.  With affiliations everywhere from the California district attorney and governer, to the commisioner of the local school board, the DiMattia crime family has clearly staked its claim.  The name is feared, the power is respected, and nearly everyone in Pedregal is, or has been, involved with the family in some way.

You can't deny them; you can't escape them.  Welcome to Pedregal
.
Below is a map of the greater Pedregal/Baja area, as well as the local hot spots in each sect
1. Downtown Baja - With spectacular views of the Cape, and upper middle class homes, downtown Baja is a treat for families who wish to enjoy the beauty of Pedregal while still taking in a 'big city' atmosphere.  Most of Pedregal's larger businesses are based out of Downtown Baja, and boating/yachting enthusiasts enjoy the largest, most impressive Marina in the area.  Pedregal's teenagers also enjoy the popular clubs, from the open Surfside to the exclusive, guest list only Suite Sixteen, counterpart to the New York club of the same name, and casual resteraunts along the Marina boardwalk.  Pedregal's two schools, Baja Secondary (Pre-school through 8th grade) and Baja High are also located in the downtown area with classrooms overlooking the marina.

2. Montre Escape -
Just outside Downtown Baja is the Montre Escape subdivision.  A cliffside community for the lower upper class, the quiet, serene atmosphere is popular with families who like to be near the city, yet still have the comforts of a suburban niche.

3. Los Gatos -
Across the marina, to the south of Downtown Baja, the suburb of Los Gatos provides charm and palatial homes to Pedregal's middle upper class.  This small, exclusive neighborhood is home to most of Pedregal's professionals (doctors, lawyers, etc) and gives off a wholesome, family oriented vibe.

4. Old Pedregal -
Located in a sloping valley, Old Pedregal is the town's historical section, filled with stone pathways, bridges, plazas, and even streets.  Mostly filled with respected elders, Old Pedregal is a popular tourist spot, and home to "Maria's", a local secret, and home the best homemade ice cream on either side of the border.

5. Cliffside -
The first of two upper crust neighborhoods in Pedregal.  Majestic, natural monuments tower over a white sand beach.  Tucked into the rock are sprawling mansions owned by those regarded in the highest of Pedregal society, including most members of the DiMattia family.  Known for views of firey sunsets and crashing waves, Cliffside is fit for nothing less than royalty.

6. Pedregal Landing -
The second of the upper crust Pedregal subdivisions.  Smaller and more private that its predecessor, the heads of the DiMattia and Nichols families call these beachfront lots home.  With large, sprawling lots, views of sea life in their natural habitat, and homes selling for no less than two million dollars, Pedregal Landing is THE upper class paradise.

7. Pedregalito -
Pedregal's own version of Beverly Hills.  An upper crust hot spot, Pedregal's elite can often be found blowing thousands in designer boutiques, doing lunch at one of a handful of exclusive, pricy eateries, grabbing a latte at one of five Starbucks,  working out at the state of the art health club, or lounging by the Pedregal Country Club pool.  This is undoubtedly the place to see and been seen.

8. Camino del Sol -
A neighborhood, similar to Venice Beach.  Residents are mostly working class, and the homes are much smaller, and closer together in comparison with Pedregal's other neighborhoods.  A hot spot for surfers and skaters.

9. Camino de la Catera -
Reminiscent of Lombard street in San Fransisco.  Similar to Camino del Sol, but less crowded, and less populated.  Famous for its palm groves and smaller bluffs.

10. Pacifica -
A decidedly upper class neighborhood with spectacular homes and natural beauty for under a million dollars.  The homes in this neighborhood have been featured in Hollywood movies, and are considered a wonderful investment oppertunity, with many homes being sold for 80K and later being appraised for 2.6 million.  Many of the homes are rented throughout the year, making the neighborhood less local, and more touristy.

11. Pedregal Beach -
A tourist attraction, for the most part.  Local residents usually only find themselves in this area if they're looking for kicks at a transients (tourists) expense.  Extremely built up with hotels and a few rental villas.

12. Pedregal Beach II -
An expansion, added to Pedregal beach, once contractors ran into zoning problems.  Includes a popular boardwalk where many 'less fortunate' Pedregal teenagers find work in the summer.  Again, looked down upon by Pedregal locals who usually avoid the location like the plague.

13. La Gravera -
A local merchant area.  Ventures include car dealerships, supermarkets, and several family eateries, including Vincenzo's
