DROPPEDIT'S ONE-SHOE SCENES IN MOVIES AND TV

Women losing their shoes, mostly high heels, appear to be a common theme in movies and TV serials. Some of those scenes were described in the message board of Legsandheels.com as well as certain other sites. I thought of bringing those together, add my own descriptions, and come up with a comprehensive list. Thanks to contributions by feeture feature, kinja, wang tohan, stratius and several others, the list has expanded so fast that, for practical reasons, I had to divide it into two categories.

This list one is the first, consisting of what I term Prime shoe loss scenes. Prime in this case implies an inadvertent and uncontrolled loss of footwear by female character, in the aftermath of which she cannot retrieve her errant shoe and has to go on one shoe on, one shoe off. The second list consists of other shoe loss or one-shoe scenes that do not fit this criterion.

My thanks again to all whose postings were used, and also thanks to feeture feature, kinja, wang tohan and others whose contributions have made the list expand continually.

A last note. The movies I have seen myself, for which double-checked description is available, are marked with (*). Remarks and feedback are most welcome, so that I can make corrections and/or extend the list further. Use [email protected].

Latest updates: August 4 Item 117.

  1. Gabriels Fire* (TV): 1991 US-made serial, about a private eye and his female colleague (played by Laila Robins). In one episode that I happened to zap in right at the middle, she had somehow ended-up wearing only one black high-heel pump with mini nightdress and nylons. Always keeping her one remaining pump, she walks at night through a deserted alley, and gets in a slump bar to ask for help. But, the bar is assaulted by police, and mistaken for a prostitute she is taken under custody. Taken to the police station, her pictures are taken; she is made to sit in a room alongside hookers; then, gets in a fight with one of those over waiting line for the phone. A friend finally bails her out, and she walks through the halls of the police station chatting with him, always one-shod. She then drives and walks to meet his private eye colleague, who teases her over her one-shoe condition. This was a splendid one-shoe piece, despite the fact that I still dont know how she ended up loosing her pump in the first place. More recently, John provided coordinates of this website dedicated to Gabriels Fire. Apparently, the episode in question is #10 Windows, in which Leila Robins has a series of misadventures while going to a costume party dressed as a hooker.

  2. Foul Play*: Trying to escape a mob, Goldie Hawn drops a navy blue high-heel pump from fire escape, and carrying her remaining shoe she jumps at the back of a truck. In the next scene, she walks in police station one-shod (mini-skirt and tan nylons). The following day, police investigator finds her errant pump in a garbage can and collects it as evidence. Photo credits belong to Feeture Feature.

  3. True Lies*: In this 1994 movie, Jamie Lee Curtis plays wife of a secret service agent (Arnold Schwarzenegger). She looses one of her black mid-heel pumps during a mock abduction (set up by her husband). She is led into a mirrored interrogation room one-shod and has to sit in there. Then, she is left loose on a wet road, still missing one pump. Photo contribution by "Feeture Feature".

  4. Raiders of the Lost Ark*: One of Karen Allens white open toe pumps falls off her foot into the pit of snakes, when she is pushed into the same pit. She lands on Harrison Fords lap one-shod, while the errant pump lands atop poisonous snakes. They show one of the snakes slithering through the open toe of her shoe. Nice shots of her one-shoe condition follow, as she tries to keep snakes away from her one-shod feet using a torch. When finally out of pit, she discards her remaining pump in disgust and appears in subsequent scenes barefoot. Photo contribution by "Feeture Feature".

  5. Poison Ivy*: Opens with a scene of Drew Barrymore stopping on the way home from school at a tire swing, which swung out over a small gorge, maybe 50 feet deep. While day dreaming on the swing, she kicks off her right boot into the gorge, and although her boot seems findable if she climbed down the embankment to retrieve it, she instead gets off the swing and walks off in disgust. She runs into a classmate, who asks her to come to her house to visit. She spends the next 10 minutes of the movie walking around in one boot, and white sock in other foot. Photo credits belong partially to feeture feature.

  6. Somebody to Love* (1994): Rosie Perez plays a taxi dancer involved with a married man. When half-naked at his home at midnight, his wife shows up and she has to flee from a bathroom window carrying her clothes, minus one of her high-heel sandals. The house is up on the hills and far away from the city. So, she has to walk all the way back wearing black mini-dress and one shoe. The subsequent one-shod scenes last for perhaps 15 minutes, including a car accident she witnesses and helps a survivor out, and encounter with an admirer at a parking lot.

  7. Romeo Is Bleeding* Car driver gets strangled by woman in rear seat using one stockinged, one shod foot. When the car crashes, she breaks windshield using her shod foot, climbs out of car, kicks her remaining high-heel pump high in the air, and runs away in nylons and miniskirt. Photo credits belong to "feeture feature".

  8. Legal Eagles*: Debra Winger looses a pump while sliding down a railing to escape from an art gallery in fire. Few instants of one-shod appearence follows, as she gets out of the building, and walks amidst firefighters workers, and kneels down to look at some rescued paintings. Earlier in the movie, Robert Redford chases down a hit-man that tried unsuccessfully to run over he and Debra Winger, and instead crashes his car. The hit man shoves down an attractive blonde on the sidewalk. There is a good shot of her losing her black hi-heel pump as she is knocked over and she is clearly visible in her one shoe state as she yells after them; "What's the matter with you?" An appropriate question as she has very nice legs and neither of them stops to look. The lost shoe is also clearly visible in the background. Photo credit: feeture feature; story contributed partly by Thomas Johnson.

  9. Pet Sematary*: 1989 US-made horror movie. The character played by Denise Crosby struggles with her little son taken over by evil-spirit (!) on her houses stairs, and looses one medium-heel black pump before being killed by her son. Arriving at home, the husband finds her errant pump first, and then her body. After being buried, her corps is taken over by the same evil-spirit, and at the very end of the movie, she tries to kill her husband, while still walking one-shod. 13. Summertime*: Katharine Hepburn drops a red mid-heel mule out of her hand on the balcony of the man she dated during her stay in Rome. She acted like she was in love trance, hence not realizing it, and the mule is left behind. In the next scene, she walks home barefoot carrying one mule, and she does not seem concerned about it. Story by "Kinja", photo contribution by "Feeture Feature".

She is pulled back over the balcont in one shoe. A friend recovers the lost shoe from the building's concierge and gets it for her. Photo contribution by "feeture feature".

After stopping at police station, she gets back home carrying her remaining pump and puts it on a table. Photo credits belong to " feeture feature".

  19. Roman Holiday: Audrey Hepburn is the all-time champion Damsel in Distress in one shoe in movie history. In this movie classic, she plays a young princess. At the very beginning of the movie, she is at a formal ceremony greeting royal guests, wearing a long, ball-style dress. As the greeting gets longer, she gets bored and tired, and she first starts dipping, then steps out of her shoe. But, when she tries to slip into it, the shoe fell over and despite all her struggle, she keeps pushing it further away and she cannot get it back on. Until then, no one saw what had happened thanks to the long dress covering her feet. Then, she has to take a few steps backwards to get seated, and in doing so she leaves behind her errant shoe on the floor. She peaks out her shoeless foot, but cannot reach her pump. Finally, one of her aids realize her trouble, and in order to enable her recollect the shoe, the princess is asked to dance. While stepping forward, she stops over the errant shoe and slips into it. In 1987 TV remake of the original movie, Catherine Oxenberg has the same trouble, and takes her shoes off several other times in the movie. Story contributed by "Kinja".

  20. V.I. Warshawski* : Some 25 minutes into the movie, Kathleen Turner loses her right 3.5 inch beige suede pump when being kidnapped by the bad guys. When she arrives at the parking garage of the building to where she is being taken, the driver opens the door and she swings both feet out of the car to be led away. When her foot touches the concrete, she notices that she misses one shoe. She turns around to look in the car for it and one of the guys tells her she lost it on the stairs. She gets mad that they did not retrieve it. During the next 3-4 minutes she wondersaround one-shod, and she finally gets her shoe back when she gets home. Also in the same movie, in a bar she purposefully sticks out her foot so a guy can knock one shoe off, and returns it to her. Story contributed by "Kinja".

  21. Man of the Moment: A gut rescues Mary La Plantes character when she tries to commit suicide by drowning herself in river. She appears to be shoeless when pulled from the water but when she learns the cops have been called, she runs to the guys car and she is clearly in one shoe and stockings. When car arrives at guys home, she gets out and walks in the up and down movement of being in one shoe, and when she enters house can be seen to be in one shoe yet. She continues to walk around guys house in one shoe and he says she is ruining his carpet. She says no, but then there is a close-up of her feet in a puddle on the carpet. She then follows the butler to a room where she changes to pyjamas and a pair of slippers. Contributed by feeture feature.

  22. A Cry in the Night (1956) Natalie Wood gets kidnapped and twists her ankle. She takes off one high heel shoe and the guy who kidnapped her drags her through abandoned brickyard in one shoe as police chase them. Story contributed by Kinja, caption by feature feature.

  23. The Glass Bottom Boat During a tour of space flight center, Doris Day loses her spike heel in a floor grating, Rod Taylor picks up the shoe and the grate with it, and Dick Martin drops through the resulting hole (click here for origins of this phenomenon see). Afterwards, she runs out of the building, and down the sidewalk with one shoe and hides under a friend's desk in another building. Rod Taylor ends up being her new boss and returns her shoe at that time. Actually, there was enough in this movie to make one think that the director or someone must have a special interest in female feet. Besides the loss described above, there was another scene where Dorris Day's character was trying to help a waiter who got his foot stuck in a narrow garbage can. She ended up getting her foot stuck in there, too. They could have made a good one-shoe scene here, but they didn't. However, they showed Rad Taylor massaging her foot afterwards. Later, Dorris was in Rod's modern computerized kitchen. One feature was a robot that would come out and clean up anything that fell on the floor. While Dorris was alone in there, she accidentally triggered the robot to come out. She was wearing thong sandal type slippers and the robot had a vacuum hose that came out and sucked one of her flip flops off and it was about to go back inside its door with her shoe. But, she just reached in and pulled it out in time. Yet again, she was running away from someone and she kicked off her shoes to go faster and she went into someone's house through their bedroom. She entered one foot first and there was a good shot of her foot. It is interesting that Dorris Day would be subject of such excessive foot treatment, rather than someone else with a smaller more feminine foot than hers. Story contribution by "Kinja", photos by "feeture feature".

  24. Betonski Clovek (Concrete Man): In this 1995 short film (16mm) from Slovakia, Judita Zidars pump is stuck in the concrete in the middle of the city. She is impatient to retrieve it, but a string of unexpected events prevent her from finding her lost shoe. At the end of the movie she finds the shoe, which has by now lost its role as the primary motive for her search. Contributed by "Kinja".

  25. Montenegro: Susan Anspach is shown running through airport after breaking a heel. Then, while waiting to be released from customs. When she is released a man says he can fix her shoe as he removes it. She then rides on escalator one shoe on, one off. On leaving the airport Anspach has both shoes off, in stocking feet walks for a short distance in snow. Contribution by " feeture feature".

  26. Cinderella Jones (1946): Joan Leslies character steps from elevator in one shoe and goes a few steps without realizing she stepped out of the other. Her boyfriend goes back and retrieves the shoe and puts it on her foot. The, later in the movie, she is jealous when boyfriend is with another woman, so she throws one shoe at him. He picks her up, lifts her to a platform and eventually puts the shoe back on her foot. Then, there is third scene in which some women including Leslie are singing and dancing before a crowd and one of the women starts taking one high heel off the feet of about 15 women each. She tosses the shoes into Leslies apron and Leslie drops them on a table. Then the women in one shoe each are shown with legs crossed and boyfriends pointing to shoeless feet. Some guys lift Leslie up as she sits on table with shoes and she starts tossing them to guys who run around trying to fit womens feet into them. In the meantime, Leslie gets off the table and finds she has only one shoe on again. All the guys who couldnt fit women with shoes run and present their shoes to her. Finally her own boyfriend has her shoe and puts it back on her after she gives him a kiss. Contributed by "Feeture Feature ".

  27. Speed* Some 15 minutes into it, woman looses her right 3 inch black suede pump as she is pulled from the elevator. As you see her run away with one nylon foot flying, she can be heard wailing "My Shoe!". (photo credit goes to feeture feature) Yet, Simon makes interesting observation that this movie may have two, even possibly more versions of the lady in the single shoe scene. He slowed down the version he has, and he saw the lady that is missing her shoe actually has it in her hand!!! So, comments Simon, her cry My Shoe! may be because she wants to stop to put it back on as opposed to it supposedly being lost.

  28. House on Carroll Street At the end of 1987 movie, Kelly McGillis kicks a man through the ceiling of a train station. He grabs her foot , her shoe comes off and as he plummets to his death, he takes one of her shoes with him. She is then shown climbing through a window, and limping through the hallway of a hotel because of her missing shoe.

  35. The Out-Of-Towners (1970)*: In this great comedy, Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis play an Ohioan couple running into a series of trouble upon their arrival to New York City. In the first half of the movie, they have to walk 8 blocks under pouring rain, Sandys character steps on a bottle and breaks the heel of her shoe. Upon arrival to their hotel, the camera pins down on her feet and shoes to depict their pitiful state. Later in the movie, they are kidnapped by two muggers stealing a police car. When they are tossed out of the car near the Central Bank, she loses her shoe and asks for her husbands help to find it. It is very dark, they cant find it and they start arguing, while she stands on the road with a bare left foot. At that moment, a car comes by and runs over the missing shoe. Jack Lemmon picks it up and hands it over to her, saying at least it is the one with broken heel. She replies, the one with broken heel is already on my foot!. She decides walking barefoot, and take off her remaining shoe, but she steps on something and injures her foot. After an eventful evening spent in Central Bank, the next morning she is seen walking out of the park wearing her flattened and ruined pump , and nothing on her injured foot. Later, she puts on both shoes and the ruined left shoe is slapping like a low-cut slipper. Initial story contribution by "Kinja".

  37. My Three Sons (TV): Late 60s TV show. In an episode to where Ernie thought he was to jinx. Several bad things happened in his company that episode. One scene had him, his step-mom and Katie in the shoe store. Katie had tried on several pairs and there were loads of boxes still there, but loads having been already returned to the back. Sometimes when you get the shoe from the back there is only one and the display is out in the store somewhere. Anyway, they are getting ready to leave and Katie cannot find one of her shoes. The clerk surmises that he put her other shoe in one of the boxes and placed it up on the shelf. The scenes now (since the shows in the US are shortened for more commercials in syndication) cuts away quickly after this discovery. By whats remembered from seeing the episode in the 1970s, this scene actually showed them leaving the store, Katie wearing one shoe and the clerk saying he is to call her when he found it. Credits belong to Kinja.

  38. Mission Impossible (TV): In one episode, Barbara Bain (as "Cinnamon") is being chased while wearing red high heels. She removes one shoe and leaves it as a decoy to mislead the guys chasing her.

  39. 1994 Miss Teen USA Pageant (TV): During the intro, one of the girls stepped out of a shoe - a gold colored pump. She struggled to get it back own but ended up pushing it farther away. The camera shifted and when it returned she had been wise enough to kick the other one off stage and continue the dance routine. You could see one of the shoes still on the stage until the emcee did his intro. During this time of introductions, someone must have retrieved her shoes and she got them back on. Credits belong to Kinja.

  40. The Egg and I (TV) : 1947 movie starring Fred McMurray and Claudette Colbert. This comedy spun off future But and Pa Kettle movies. The two stars were married and at one party, Freds character was in the courtyard being flirted with by another character in the movie. His wife watched this from the homes patio on the roof. She was jealous and threw one of her shoes at the other woman, but it hit her husband instead. Suspecting it was his wifes shoe, he took it with him up to the patio and he found his wife sitting on to bench with one foot tucked under - hiding her missing shoe. Acting like he was oblivious, he asked his wife if she had seen anyone throw the shoe. She denied it and at that point probably started wondering how shed get the shoe back. Her husband paused and suddenly tossed the shoe over his shoulder out into the courtyard. Surprised, she jumped out of her seat, admitted her guilt and looked over the wall trying to locate her shoe below, she only got as to make as saying, "the thing went to somewhere over to there." At this point, all searching was interrupted when it was announced their barn was on fire. They had to leave without the shoe and go home and fight the fire. She is shown running into the house still in one shoeand the movie never showed her retrieving it later. Story contribution by Kinja, photos by feeture feature.

  41. Spin City (TV): It was first aired 12/08/98, title Local Hero. They were having the Mayors Costume Ball, and one of the staff in Mayors office, Stacy, who liked and briefly dated Mike (Michael J. Fox) was wearing an outfit similar to Cinderella. Mike had set her up with a City Councilman, secretly to get his vote on an issue, and Stacy was very excited. A group from the party, including Mike, went to the roof because someone was threatening to jump off and commit suicide and they wanted to talk him down. While this was happening, Stacy found out why Mike set her up and she threw one of her ballet slippers at him. Mike ducked and the shoe went flying off the roof. Mike said: Hey think youre going to need that. They go back inside her wearing one shoe. At the end, Mike went out to the street and found the shoe and returned it to her Prince Charming style, then the City Counselman asked her to dance and she felt much better. Story credits belong to Kinja.

  42. Get A Life (TV): An early 90's sitcom. One of the episodes titled "Girlfriend 2000" has a pretty good foot scene. The star of the show (Chris Elliott) is stalking a girl. He is so obsessed with her that he superglues his hand to the top of her high heel. She ends up stepping out of her shoe to get away. She's shown walking several steps in a miniskirt, pantyhose, and one high heel.
  43. La Rcration (Love Play) : In this French movie from 1960, Jean Seberg plays an American student at a French boarding school. She has a crush on the sculptor living next door to school and one night she sneaks into his yard. He happens to come out on the balcony at the same time and they see each other. She turns and runs to climb back over the fence, but loses one high heel as she start to run. She continues in one shoe and takes off the other to climb the fence. Someone held her upside down and shook her, one foot in sandal, the other in sock. She had to walk home that way. Story contribution by "Kinja", photos by "feeture feature".

  48. Candid Camera: There was a stunt I saw several years ago that was a staged office prank caught on tape. A man goes to a lady's office and comes up with a reason to borrow her shoe (I want to buy to pair like them for my wife and I want to go and write down the brand and style name) This person seemed credible, but she did not know his name or office location. The catch is that the guy has taken off with the shoe not to return. The room shows her in her office looking anxious and eventually coming into the hall wearing one shoe to look for the guy. The prank was eventually revealed and she got her shoe back. Contributed by "Kinja".

  49. Flashdance (1983):* Exotic dancer played by Jennifer Beals gets out of her boyfriends car in anger, and she walks away on wet pavement in disgust, one of her heels get broken. 50. Junior (1994):* Emma Thompson plays a shy scientist on a date with a colleague (Arnold Schwarzeneger). While dancing at a formal reception (she has on black night dress, nylons, and black suede pumps), she swings her foot violently and one of her heels go flying, landing into the cake at the other end of the hall. As she is stranded one-shod (and very embarrassed) at the middle of dancing guests, Arnold goes all the way down to pickup her pump and places it back on her foot. Photo contribution by feeture feature.

  51. Tombs of the Blind Dead (movie-1971) This low-budget film from Portugal included a scene where a girl (played by actress Elana Arpon) is wearing a pair of heeled sandals and is running from a zombie inside an abandoned monastery. Going up the stairs, one foot falls through the stairs and her shoe comes off when she pulls her foot out. She finishes running away wearing one shoe. She loses the other shoe jumping over the wall before getting on a horse. Next morning, friends looking for her find her lonely shoe on the staircase. The second is found at the bottom of the wall on a later visit. Here is another link mentioning this shoe loss. Story contribution by "Kinja" and "feeture feature", photos by "feeture feature".

  52. Wildcats (movie - 1986) Goldie Hawn (her third movie shoe loss on this site!) is walking through an inner-city Chicago high school to interview with the principal about his vacant head coaching job for the football team (the whole plot of the movie is a woman coaching a bunch of high school boys - an unheard of thing.) Anyway, she is walking through the hall all alone after hours and is wearing a pair of sandals with an ankle tie strap. Suddenly she is chased by a couple of guard dogs and while running, her ankle strap comes untied and one shoe falls off. She has to run part of the way in one shoe. One of the dogs picks up the shoe and continues to chase her to the principal's office. She goes inside and is obviously in one shoe but neither her nor the principal mention it. The movie does not show her getting her shoe back, but it is implied that the principal commands the dogs and could have gotten her shoe back. Story contributed by "Kinja", photo by "feeture feature".
  53. They Might Be Giants (1971 movie)* Joanne Woodward loses a shoe in a movie theater and George C Scott leaves with it. She chases after on the street one shoe on, one off. He gives back the shoe and she takes a cab home. She had said she had a blister and she gets out of the cab one shoe on, one off and the cab leaves with her shoe. After the cab leaves, she does not throw away the remaining shoe, but puts it in her purse. Then, at a later scene, a police officer unloads the contents of her purse, and throws her a funny look when he sees a solitary shoe coming out. Story and photo contribution by "feeture feature".
  54. A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon (1988 movie): Jimmy's prom date looses her shoe in the garden and he won't give it back, so she runs away without it. Story and photo credits belong to "Feeture Feature".
  55. Brenda Starr (1989): Brooke Shields has to rescue a guy from a hole in the jungle by removing her stockings and knotting them together, letting him climb up them. She is seen with both shoes on when he gets out and there is a close-up of them kissing. Then they get up and run for shelter from the rain, and in a possible editing error, she is seen limping as she has only her left pump on. In the second one-shoe scene of the movie, two other women are trying to climb on a seaplane to escape crocodiles. She still continues to fight him and orders him out of the saloon before she kills him. The crowd cheers her and she heads to the bar in that one-shoe walk and asks for a drink. There is also a second scene whereby Dietrich has her foot massaged and when the maid left, she is lying with one stockinged foot and the other has a shoe on . 84. Le Plus Beau Metier du Monde (Best Job in the World):* This 1996 French movie with Gerard Depardieu contains a scene borrowing from a famous city legend (also see item#141 in other list). Gerard Depardieus character drives his ex-wife (played by Michele Laroque) to a party with friends and she falls asleep on his shoulder. He is still interested in her and wants to make a new start. When he drops a pack of cigarettes, he reaches under Laroques seat fishing for it with his hand, and he finds a ladys shoe (flat, loafer type). Immediately, he remembers of the lift he had given earlier to a colleague he is about to start flirting (played by Souad Amidou). Thinking that this must be Amidous shoe, he opens the window and tosses out the shoe without waking-up her ex-wife. It is pouring outside and the solitary shoe landing on the road bank is shown for several seconds. They finally get to their destination, a large country house with lawn. Naturally, when she wakes up, she is unable to find her shoe, and realizing his mistake Depardiue tries to overwhelm her with several questions and suggestions such as are you sure you had both shoes on when you got on?, What is it in a shoe? You wont allow a errant shoe to ruin your evening, are you?, and so on. Laroques character in infuriated and says there is no way she is going out in one shoe. Then, she reaches under her seat from the back and her search produces a solitary high-heeled shoe and a pantyhose. Depardieu still tries to play ignorant, and tells her she must have put-on the wrong shoe while leaving her home. As she tries to put on the unfitting shoe, she screams this is not her shoe and it is too small for her anyway. They step-out of the car and one of the friends accompanies her inside under heavy rain. She has a very obvious one-shoe limp (because of the difference in heel height), and one of the guys asks Depardiue whats wrong with her foot. His answer is tight shoe. When they finally settle inside, she takes off the high-heeled shoe (only half of her foot fits in it anyway) and pushes it aside, sitting in one shoe. Shortly afterwards a small dog takes the errant shoe away, and at that moment, Depardiues would-be-flirt comes in and sees her shoe carried around by the dog. She gets out in downtown and wanders the streets, still in one-shoe condition, and checks into a hotel. She goes up to her room, and then comes back down and gets cash at the desk., always keeping on her one remaining pump. Finally, wandering through the hotel shopping area, she takes off the remaining shoe. The hotel security guy had been watching her and then stopped her and said despite the liberal dress code, they did require shoes. On the left side, in an aisle seat is a fit brunette in business suit, skirt above knees, flesh colored hose and mustard colored medium-heeled pumps. Her right foot is slightly turned into the aisle, and her right shoe is sucked off her foot in a split second and flies into oblivion. Incredibly, after landing and a night in Paris, the Concorde continues its journey, giving rise to a second shoe loss scene! This time there is a bomb planted in the baggage hold. When it goes off, it is not sufficient to blow the plane up, but it triggers off a gradual structure failure and the pilots, realizing there is a problem, decide to force land. The blonde reporter played by Susan Blakely (wearing a smart light-colored trouser suit, tan hose and light-colored medium-heel pumps) is seated during the descent and a hole suddenly appears in the floor below one of her feet. She screams, and you have a view of her one foot hanging over the hole, her shoes then are suddenly sucked off her foot and you see this pretty stocking feet. The owner hired them. They wanted to keep the discovery secret and the winery was invaded by some tipsy businessmen who came into the room where the body was in a barrel. One of the men thought he recognized her as a woman from Acupolco, which she denied. Then the men started getting impatient to taste the wines in the cellar. Being scared these guys would open the barrel to taste the wine and find the body, Laura decided to distract them. Telling Remington to "Forget everything you see!", she ran up to the man who thought he recognized her, draped her scarf around his neck, gave him a great big sexy kiss, said "If you thought Acupolco was something, then you haven't seen anything yet". She ran to the corner of the room, turned around, said "What you catch, you can keep". Then she kicked off her high heel shoe, it flew way up high, and landed right in Remington's hands. She ran off into the cellars laughing and the drunks ran after her yelling "Acupolco". Remington stood staring at the high-heel shoe. It was a white or cream pump with low cut sides and a peep-toe open toe. He handed the shoe to the winery owner and ran after Laura. As she ran from the men she would take off her jacket one time, then her blouse, then her skirt, tossing them and teasing the men in a strip-tease parody to get them away from the room with the cask. She was running around with a camisole and half-slip. Can't remember if she took off the remaining shoe or not. But, when the men were gone off looking for her, she slipped back with Remington into the first room finding the owner knocked unconscious, holding her shoe, and the body gone from the barrel. As she hangs there and struggles to hold on she flexes her legs and feet, and one of her shoes dangles for a second and then drops into the bailer. As she continues to hang "Manimal" walks by in human form for a change. He notices her chewed-up high-heel wired into the side of a bail. Next a roulette table was lowered and they then used the chips to bet with and two of them lost and went away wearing one shoe and one ankle boot. The woman which was left, still standing there wearing one boot , won the money and went back to her seat with the cash and only one boot. She said it was worth it losing her boot for the cash. The invitees make a circle around the disputing husband-wife and admiral, she somehow ends up fighting with another woman and ends-up laying on the ground, displaying her one nyloned and one-shod foot. There is also a website with the pictures taken by the photographer of the navy base in Pensacola, FL, while the movie was being shot. One of the performances was Mummerella and the woman captain of the group lost one shoe (a grey mid-heeled pump) intentionally during the performance. The woman was interviewed after the performance and a big deal was made that she was still in one shoe, and hoped an assistant had picked up the missing shoe from the street. She then did the Mummers Strut with the reporter and the camera showed her in one shoe. Due to cold weather she also had on heavy grey stockings. Subsequently, Kinja was able to locate this photo of the woman, called Beals Casio. The photo shows her in walking shoes she must have walked the parade in them and then must have changed into pumps before the judging at the end of parade, as they clearly showed the pump on the street and then her do the strut in one shoe with the reporter. She won her category, best captain!
