I'm Alex.  I play lead guitar and sing backup vocals.  I started playing guitar in about third grade.  I took lessons from a guy who would teach me really basic chord songs that everybody knew, but once i got my first Metallica cd there was no turning back.  While Metallica was what first got me into heavy music, it didn't stop there.  After that there were some weird stages when i got into punk, pop, and even rap for a while.  So needless to say I'm pretty well balanced in what I listen to, but i've found what I like best in the hard rock/alternative metal genres.  My biggest wish for this band is that we'll be able to say one day that we've done something with the band that no other band has done before.  That's kind of a big wish but I try my hardest everyday to make it possible.  Being original is what I spend most of my time considering when I'm writing music.  There's too much music out there right now that is basically a photocopy of what everybody else is doing.  Like I said before, Metallica has had a very definite influence in my musical style and always will.  But besides Metallica there are also many other bands and musicians who have made big impressions on me and my playing.  Some of these are (in no particular order): Pantera, Led Zepplin, Incubus, Pink Floyd, Sevendus, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Full Devil Jacket, Godsmack, Black Sabbath, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Bush, and Deftones.  The reason my taste in music may vary from time to time is because I can find something good about any type of music that was made by artists who are making it for the right reasons.  On the other hand I can find reasons to hate any music made by "artists" doing it for the wrong reasons.
