| ? Order From Chaos ? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Johannes Kepler( 1571-1630 ) said "The chief aim of all investigations of the external world should be to discover the rational order and harmony which has been imposed on it by God and which He revealed to us in the language of mathematics". | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| If You've already checked out "What is BEAM" you are probably aware that I have a different view of things than many people. I once bought into the evolution fairy tail. But the more I studied, the more evidence I saw of intelligent design. Intelligence requires an intellect, and design requires a designer. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I have therefore come to the conclusion that there is a Creator and I believe that He has made Himself known. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ( Genesis 1-2:3, John 1:1-3, Colossians 1:16 ) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| He originally created a world that was very good, but thanks to us it has fallen pray to entropy. Actually the second law of thermodynamics states it this way,"in a closed system all things move from a more ordered toward a less ordered state" In other words a bridge, left unattended, will in time become a pile of rubble. But a pile of rubble left to untouched will never become a bridge. No matter how much time you give it,or what natural forces act upon it. In fact it will eventually crumble into dust.That is simply the nature of things, order does not spontaneously arise out of disorder. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| That's right,things started out in perfect order and are falling into a chaotic state. not the other way around. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Please note, I said into a chaotic state, not a state of chaos. A subtle distinction, but a real one. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Now some people have put forth the idea that order can and does rise out of random chance and chaos. They even have a demonstration they use to prove it. It's called : "The Chaos Game" |

| [FIGURE 2] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| [FIGURE 1] | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Basically you start with a large piece of paper, with three dots on it. Using a marker, close your eyes and move your hand in random manor, and make another mark on the paper. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Using a dice roll a number. Now make a mark half way between the random dot and the one with the number you just rolled. Now roll again. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This time make the mark between the last mark that you made and the one with the new number. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Do this long enough (24+ hours) and you end up with a complex image. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Now I know this seems like a good example of order rising out of randomness or chaos. At least until you think about it a bit. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| You've started with 3 dots which naturally form a triangle pattern. You are restricted to using random numbers between 1 and 6, and 6 is divisible by 3. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It seems clear to me that there is a lot of sub structure based on three, present in this example. Not to mention the strict rule about putting the each new dot at the half way point | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In fact, there seems to be a LOT more rules and structure than chaos here, if you ask me. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The same is true in nature.What is usually called chaos is due to the fact that we are not able to make enough of, or the necessary measurements to see the order that is there, without disrupting, and changing the very thing we are trying to observe. This is commonly referred to as the: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| But just because we are unable to quantify and describe the underlying order does not mean it is not there. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ( Colossians 1:17, Genesis 1:31 ) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Anyway, weather you believe in evolution or the Creator it is the underlying order of the nature that is the reason we can look to it as a guide to direct our attempts to build Living Machines. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| So if we both look to nature as the inspiration for our designs, why do I bother making the point at all? Simply because of the fact that The Designer has a purpose for each of his designs. That's the model I intend to use. I want my creations to have purpose in its existence. Something more than just looking cool. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| By the way, Forrest M Mims III, the gentleman whose "Engineering Handbook" That is often recommended by many in BEAM, is also a creationist. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| So long, | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
