That's right. Obi-Wan Kenobi is not only a Jedi, he is a great Jedi. Infact, I would venture to say that he is the greatest jedi than any other, throughout the entire Star Wars Saga including Darth Vader/Anakin and Luke Skywalker. Follow me as I talk you through my reasoning. First off, many people consider Darth Vader the greatest of all the Jedi. I can easily refute that. It is a well-known fact that Obi-Wan defeats Anakin shortly after his turn to the dark side, and sends him to apparent death and the end of a lengthy lightsaber battle. It is Obi-Wan that is able to defeat Vader. Even in their second battle where Obi-Wan is killed, he allows himself to be struck down. He has a perfect record against Vader, something no one else can claim. Obi-Wan is also able to destroy Darth Maul, who killed the great Jedi, Qui-Gon Gin. Using simple logic, this means that Obi-Wan is far superior to his former master. And although Luke Skywalker was able to defeat Darth Vader, he still lost once, blemishing his record. The only time Obi-Wan ever really lost a lightsaber battle was against the dreaded Count Dooku. Although I could easily explain this on inexpierence, I will not. Obi-Wan was distracted by his young apprentance Anakin Skywalker, who foolishly attacked Dooku without any help. It is not only his lightsaber battles that proved that Obi-Wan is the superior Jedi, it is also his ability to disappear into the force after death. Very few Jedi have been able to do this, and they include Yoda and Anakin Skywalker, both very powerful Jedis, but Obi-Wan is clearly the best, because he was the first one that was able to do it. He pioneered the technique of disappering into the force, to live on beyond death. Obi-Wan is clearly the best Jedi in the Star Wars saga, not only because of his lightsaber skills and power within the force, but just because he is damn cool. |
