| People are always making predictions of what they think is going to happen in the NBA playoffs, and you know what? These people are almost always wrong. No matter what, they always get something wrong, its like doing math without a calculator, you're bound to make a stupid mistake. Well, why don't we evaluate the playoffs with a calculator. And this calculator can be Sega's ESPN NBA 2K5, a game designed to realistically recreate basketball. So it should get everything right...shouldn't it? We set up the bracket exactly as it is in real life, and simulated the playoffs ten times, and figured the probability of each to to advance to each round. Which ever team ended up with the greatest probability to advance became our favorite. Without further ado, here are our official predictions for the NBA Playoffs: |

| As it can be seen, our simulation gives the Miami Heat the greatest probability to win the NBA Championship, with a likelyhood of 30%, this is closely followed by their Eastern Confrence nemisis the Detroit Pistons at a 20% likelyhood of winning the NBA title. Something intresting that comes up with the numbers though, is the most likely NBA Finals match up is the Detroit Pistons versus the Houston Rockets. So although the Heat aren't favored to be in the finals, the game gives them the best chance to win it all if they do happen to make it there. Perhaps '2K5' saw a bit of lackluster effort by the Heat and accounted for that happening... On the Western Confrence side of the bracket, '2K5' likes the Houston Rockets to come out on top or their confrence, defeating the favored Spurs and Suns on the way. Is it possible that the Yao/T-Mac connection could be playing in the NBA Finals? Sega certainly thinks so. And if I were a betting man, I wouldn't be putting my money on the Sixers or the Nuggets to pull of the upset on the Pistons or Spurs respectively, as each of them has only a 10% chance of advancing to the second round. On the other hand, the Kings would be a good upset pick, and they will advance to the 2nd round at a likelyhood of 70% Although we don't think that these results will end up to be exactly right, they could end up to be a hell of a lot better than an apparent 'expert's' picks.
