Okay this my track in the beginning. It has come a long way but has a long way to go yet. It's built on a 2x4" frame (I know it's overkill but you'll understand later) with 1/4" plywood glued and screwed to that and a 1/2" plywood wrap to make it look good.. After which the pink foam went down both 3/4" and 2" to make he profiles I wanted. Notice the HO RR track around the outside. The track is the old AFX snap track. |

This is a litle further on in the build. Nowhere close. Notice the blue painters tape over the track. That's so no plaster gets on it. |

This is after the tape is off and the track surface has been leveled and painted with thinned flat black Rustoleum enamel. Apply with a foam roller and then after it dries use a single edge razor to scrape paint off the rails. |

This is with the lift mechanism installed. This is how I talked SHMBO into letting me put in the track in the first place. When not in use the entire platform can be put against the ceiling. The legs go into sockets and are held in by 1 long bolt going into a blind nut on the back side. There is storage under the table for the legs when they are removed . There are 3 eyebolts down each side of the table and overhead are eyebolts with pulleys on them to match the tables eyebolts. Attached are 6 1/4" nylon rope with snap hooks on the end. At the end of the table in the overhead is a screw link (?)(you can just barely see it in the picture) which is where all the ropes come together. From there it goes by 1/4" steel cable to a boat trailer winch mounted sideways and bolted to a ceiling joist with blocking for rigidity. The 1 x1's on the ends of the table are stops that hit the ceiling so you don't crush anything when putting the table in the up position. I had to extend the 6" handle on the winch to 12" to get enough leverage. Check back every once in a while for updates on the track. |
