1. A father comes to pediatrician for for check up of his 2 months old baby. After check up he asks 'should I pay something for consultation, when I have already given it to you on emonth back'?.
'Yes' hundred rupees!'
'Doc Saa'b yeh bachcha to baar baar bimar pad raha hai, aise to mein lut jaoonga!'

2. A doctor's (Not child specialist) child was admitted very sick to a good hospital under my care. Father said initially you do your best to save the child.As soon as the child started recovering he said "why we kept the child in ICU unnecessarily. I have to go to my place, I am suffering huge loss to my private practice because of child's illness, about Rs. 3000 per day!" The same person who wanted to do everything to save child's life, is now after money!

3. An adolescent child used to come everytime with throat infection (pharyngitis). The child as well as parents were noncooperative to treatment.
Child was literally addicted to cola drinks, which she used to take even during her illness. This was also supported by parents like "khana to khati nahi hai, to kya cold drink bhi nahi piye?".
The parents had a tendency of doctor shopping & totally unsatisfied with all docs & medical tests!

4. Father of his 4 month old first child came for his treatment. Parents were noncompliant, used to stop or begin treatment on their own.
Child was irritable in between treatment & cried one whole night. There was no specific reason for this. Most of the time it can be managed with proper handling of the child.
On asking to take the child out for some time during night to allay him, father said "his mother has no time because of work load at home, my mother also doesn't hav etime, & even I'm NOT"

5. A 4 year old child used get throat infection several times in a year. When asked to parents about chocolates etc. or foods with preservatives given to the child, they replied "our child never eats these things, even we forcefully give these things to him so that he can feel like a normal child!"

6. Almost every parent wants to get his sick baby discharged from hospital within a day. They think child is normal as soon as he gains consciousness (like Indian Movies).
Popular bahana's for discharge:
a. Doc Sa'ab I think the child is completely Normal, so he should get discharged!
b. Doc Sa'ab the parents are very poor so child can be discharged early! (who will explain that the discharge is a matter of child's clinical condition rather than parent;s economic condition! these matters & hospital expenses are almost always explained at the time of admitting the child)
c. Doc Sa'ab there is nobody at home. Father has to go to work daily. Younger/ older child can not remain at home alone.
d. Child is insisting on discharge. He has become up set with hospital environment!
e. Child's grandmother is very sick, she is about to die. (then why not to bring her to hospital too, for treatment)
f. Ghar me shaadi hai! (Beemar Bachche ki Shaadi?)
g. Iski mother ki due date kal hai delivery ke liye. (oh, my God)
