WHY DO VILLA FANS COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR CHAIRMAN?
VILLA DO WELL ENOUGH, SO WHY ALL THE FUSS?
Aston Villa do NOT do well enough, that's why there's all the fuss.
BUT THEY USUALLY FINISH 6th
Which means five teams usually finish above us. They're usually teams that have spent more than us, even though Aston Villa always have the money available.
Our chairman is a Fuhrer. The club's money goes into his pocket, and he named a stand after himself, even though the club have only won two league cups since winning the European Cup in 1982. Without him we'd won the league and become champions of Europe. After this he took over, and five years later the club was relegated. Despite this, he still named a stand after himslef, instead of naming it after someone that was involved in our European Cup triumph.
This same chairman knocked down the fans' favourite stand, called the Trinity Road, in the summer of 2000, without consulting anyone. He's probably going to rename this stand after himself too. This stand was built in 1923, and was quite unlike any other. It would always have visitors mesmerised.
The building of this new stand still is not finished. In fact, the construction company hired to build this stand has gone into liquidation, and has folded. This means we have three stands in the stadium. The chairman has not done good work here. This does not warrant naming a stand after oneself.
The chairman is bitter that he was not involved in Aston Villa's European triumph, and has therefore erased any memory of 1982 from Villa Park. When he took over as chairman just after we were European champions, his first quest was to sell the European Cup winning players. He'd managed to do this within two years. It's not surprising that three years after this the club was relegated.
BUT HE'S PROVIDED LOTS OF FUNDING FOR PLAYERS IN THE LAST TWO YEARS
And he recouped a lot of it, which he always fails to inform everyone about. This summer we sold four players and brought in two, and have the money to buy more players, but the chairman isn't giving any of it to the club. The club announced a loss of 5 million, but the chairman still decided that the club would pay total dividends of 1.5 million, and the chairman's holding in the club is 33%. Now we have some idea of where the money is going, and it's not on players.
Chelsea and Leeds used to be smaller teams than us, while Arsenal and Liverpool have always been the same size in terms of finances available, while Manchester United of London were always slightly bigger than us. All these teams are now planets ahead of us, even though Aston Villa have the capacity to be on the same level. The fundamental problem is that the chairman is serving his own interests only.
GEE, I NOW UNDERSTAND HOW LOUSY YOUR CHAIRMAN IS! IN FACT, ASTON VILLA AREN'T VERY GOOD ARE THEY, WHEN YOU CONSIDER HOW GOOD THEY REALLY COULD BE!
PRECISELY !
