Unreal! Unbelievable! Uncanny!
"Unreal!" "Unbelievable!" "Uncanny!"  by Paul Jennings

Paul Jennings' collection of weird and spooky short stories.

These books are good for reading at leisure.  Texts are not very difficult.  In class, it is easy to discuss and ask questions regarding the content, which is so unbelievable and extraordinary (and clean...you know, no sex involved) )that children can use their own imagination freely.  There will be no right or wrong guesses.

Rather than reading those stories together in class, I would encourage students to read at home, and then ask them to tell the class which story they have read and what they've found.  What I would do with these books are;

  * Disscuss why Paul Jennings is very popular.  (If students haven't read his
     stories,  they have to guess.)
  * Cline : Paul Jennings-like Cline, good story cline, etc.  (bizarre, odd, weird,etc)
  * Nominate some of the great stories by Paul Jennings and vote for the best.
  * Write comments on the stories to recommend to other students, and out
    them up on the wall.
  * Use Paul Jennings story telling style to write their own personal narratives
    and discuss if they liked the styles or not.  (such as "It all started with ......")
