Tim: Welcome, must be different sitting in the opposite seat Kevin: Seriously, usually I'm the one applying the pressure, now it's all on me Tim: Alright we'll get right to it…what kinds of preparation have you been doing for the 05 season? Kevin: well anyone that knows me knows for a fact I haven't even smelled a weight room. but I have been playing some hoops up at York, but I wouldn't say the competition is nearly as intense as I'm going to face this year in the DWL Tim: Adam Browne has openly criticized Joel after playing with him last year saying he doesn't give effort. What's your opinion on Joel's playing style? Kevin: I think Joel is a tough, smart kid. I just think he sometimes gets caught up with his priorities, and by that I mean baseball of course, and loses his focus on the game of basketball but I'll do my best to make sure he's mentally prepared this season...physically I think he's as good now as he'll ever be...or as good as his 05 weapon will take him Tim: How concerned are you with Joel's off the court behaviors? For example his arrest for public urination…or the pictures all over the internet of his New Year's celebration? Kevin: Hey when you gotta go, you gotta go, I understand that. even I had some off the court problems myself not too long ago...YCPPD got me one night, but it doesn't mean I'm any less ready for the season and as far as his New Year's celebration goes, heck I was there for it, it was one hell of a time. I know Joel did too, "Thanks guys. Thanks a lot. Thanks." Tim: How do you feel the two men converted one men, Scott and Ryan M, will do this season? Kevin: Well I would have thought both would do fine, but then Scott got the bad-end of a bad trade. Motyka is a good-sized, plenty skilled player and should do fine. I'll never like him as much as I like his Mom though...poor kid Tim: Can David Lanham be stopped? Kevin: sure he can...at red lights, construction areas, bars...that sort of thing but not on the basketball court. He's a great player it'll be him and brownie going head-to-head all year for MVP Tim.: Its time for the traditional DWL rundown of teams, gimme one reason why you think each team WON'T win the championship. First one, Adam/David. Kevin: David gets hit by a bus. Well, and/or teams double team and make adam beat them but in the DWL setting, even that is hard to do Tim: Sam/Scott Kevin: Sam/Scott Tim: Ryan/Alex Kevin: Two hard workers but I don't think they have the basketball talent to win the whole thing, might make a pretty good run at it though Tim: Ryan/Tim Kevin: Ryan gets distracted as he fantasizes about his teammate during games Tim.: Salar/Adam Kevin: Adam would rather TO retire than let Salar do anything. He won't be able to beat David on his own Tim: Tom/Craig Kevin: New drug policy Tim: Greg/Ryan Kevin: who the hell is Greg and Ryan will have thoughts of derivatives and functions dancing through his head Tim: Paul/Vadim Kevin: too many people will interrupt their games to get "charlie villanuevas" autograph Tim: Abi/Craig Kevin: Similar to the Wizards, they'll contend but just won't have that championship know-how Tim: Joel/Kevin Kevin: jeez where do I start...both don't have the will or determination as of now don't have enough talent...basically they just want to work up a sweat so they can drink that night Tim: speaking of sweat...you feeling the heat at all? Kevin: I'm feeling the heat like the MCI Center felt the Heat...man... Tim: You're a three year vet in a league full of youngsters, do you think you'll be forced into retirement by the young-bucks soon? Kevin: I don't think so...I think the DWL is something that can continue for years to come. It's more than just a basketball league...it's like a club and if I do decide to hang up my shoes, I'd love to take over a team and be their Ernie Grunfeld Tim: Speaking of youngins…How do you feel this year's rookie class (Sam Mason, Greg Hand, Paul Ruckerman, Tom Brodrick, Salar Samii) compares to last year's rookie class (David Lanham, Ryan Motyka, Scott Henderson, Ryan Walker, Ryan Fitzmeyer)? Kevin: Lanhams class is similar to the LeBron, Carmelo and Dwayne Wade class...with Fitzmeyer being Darko. I don't even know half of the other kids I see a lot of Kwame Brown in Salar though...maybe it's the funny names Tim: How do you feel about Ryan Fitzmeyer becoming the second ever DWL player to attend YCP? Kevin: I really don't want to see the kid anymore than I do now...but it'll be nice to see the DWL continue on at YCP. DWL YCP KNA we're building quite a future here Tim: MVP… David, Adam or other? Kevin: Adam Tim: More wins… Tom/Craig or Sam/Scott? Kevin: My Mom/Trixie Tim: Over/Under… Salar scoring 3 ppg? Kevin: Way under, more like 3 shots per game Tim: Who's better… Kobe or Dwyane Wade? Kevin: Right now? Kobe. Dwayne may be more of a winner, Kobe a better basketball palyer. Tim: What's gayer… people that dress up like storm troopers for star wars premiers or abi? Kevin: Abi, people that dress up like storm troopers usually are banging the people that dress up like princess leah. Tim: Funnier… Dave Chappelle or Will Ferrell? Kevin: Will Ferrell hands down. Tim: Go to dinner with… Eva Longoria or Will Smith? Kevin: Will Smith...wait Switch. Tim: Kevin Eaton, you are now off the hot seat. Kevin: And I'm not off to play some DWL Live '05 |
