Welcome to the DWL Hall of Fame

Opened in the winter of 2005, the DWL Hall of Fame is home to the greats of the DWL past. Dating back to its historic beginning...way back in 2002...the DWL has hosted some of the greatest basketball players to ever play on Kevin Eaton's driveway.

When entering the league, every player hopes to one day be here along with the other greats that have been held as the heros of Appleridge.

One season removed from the league makes you eligible for the Hall of Fame. A majority vote of DWL players who have at least two years experience or appointment by commissioner gets you a shrine to sit here in the hall for eternity.

Members of the DWL Hall of Fame
Jeff Schattner

Jeff retired as the best scorer in DWL history. As a member of the DWL's second season, Jeff consistently drove to the basket at will on any defender in the league. He retired with the highest PPG for a single season (9.4) in 2003. Jeff made an All-Star appearance in his only DWL season.

"He was definetly hard to stop. Anytime you get a guy that has varsity experience and a noticable size advantage over most of the league they are going to be hard to stop... I think my team knocked him out of the playoffs, so while he was a great one man show he couldn't take his team to the top," -Alex Parr

"He opened the door for the possibility of the brother to brother connection. Allowed me to recruit my brother. It made for interesting dynamics, family connections and feel good stories in the DWL," -Adam Walker

Bobby E.

Bobby E. basically held the league together for its first two seasons. Before divisions and standings were used to determine playoff spots, Bobby E made those crucial decisions. In 2002 he was the single source to provide league rankings, essentially determining who ended up where in the playoffs. With less of a role in 2003, Bobby E retired following the season, leaving way for his son, Bobby E. Jr to become the face of the DWL.

"Bobby E is one of the main reasons that the league flourished the way that it did for 4 years. His rankings and league support really helped in getting the league started and spreading the word throughout MV," -Alex Parr

"The first year the DWL didn't keep stats or standings, but we had rankings. Bobby E was our only way of determining who deserved to be where in the playoff seedings and power rankings. Without his creative input, we wouldn't have the indepth coverage that we have today," -Tim Rumpff

David Lanham

David is without a question the best DWL player ever. In his two seasons in the league, David won the Joe's Cup and MVP in both seasons. He is the only player to retire undefeated with a 10-0 regular season record. His playoff record is also 10-0.

A two time All-Star, David had a brief media career post retirement hosting "DL on the DWL."

"There's not much you can say about the self-proclaimed Chosen One that he hasn't said about himself. His spot in the Hall is well-deserved; he talked a lot, but he backed it all up with those back-to-back Joe's Cups." -Scott Henderson

"The two seasons that David was in the league, we knew who was going to win the Joe's Cup before we played one game. He brought a new level of intensity to the game and the HOF wouldn't be legit without him." -Tim Rumpff

Notable Eligible Players for H.O.F.
Joel Katz
Brian Cosker
The league's first 2man of the year and an All-Star in 2002. Another one-year player who had one great season. He had a 3-1 record in his only season and was a bit of a "feel good" story of the league.
Joel's career hit its peak during the 2005 season when he was finally recognized as Defensive Player of the Year. His monster blocks and lock down abilities overshadow his 7-8 career record and statistics (3.9 ppg 4.7 rpg).
Jill Payagapanda
Craig Schattner
Craig was a two time All-Star ('03, '04) and a force in the paint. He was voted most improved in 2003 and led the league in RPG in 2004 with 9.8. He finished with 99 points and 125 rebounds in his career.
Was the first ever female in the DWL after breaking the gender barrier...in the very first DWL game. As partner of Mike Sawyer, Jill went on to have just two wins, half as many feet difference in her team's height.
Craig Isenbart
Two-time allstar who also was 2003's 2man of the year. Retired top three in both points and rebounds. Has dropped in both categories since retiring but still has impressive career numbers of 132 points and 186 rebounds.
