| 2003 DWL Award Ceremony | ||||||||||||||
The 2003 awards have been finalized in a vote of not much surpise. At around 8 pm on the evening of June 9th, the doors opened at Radio City Music Hall in New York City where the 2nd Annual event took place. Hundreds of DWL fans crowded the downtown streets in an attempt to get a glimpse of the players as they made their entraces. Despite the fact that 18 invitations were sent out, only 17 players showed up to the ceremony...Sid was no where to be found. At approximately 8:20 pm the first DWL superstars appeared, teammates Srini and Nik, and posed for pictures on the Red Carpet. |

Recieving nominations for every category, the duo seemed excited for the night to begin...soon they couldn't wait for it to end. The overall #1 pick, Srini, went home trophy-less and so did Nik. Upon the 9 oclock hour, sixteen of the superstars had taken their seats and prepared for the show. At 9:20 Adam "Ross" Walker finally arrived at the event which he was told started at 7. |

Following an introduction speech given by Bobby E, the awards began with the presentation of the 2003 DWL Most Improved Player award. Up for the award are the ten DWL players who are returning from the 2002 season. Recieving 53% of the vote, Craig Schattner is awarded the trophy of improvement with great gratitude. In his acceptance speech included him thanking Erica, his family, his fans, the creators of 'Lots of Mahtza', and his 'Juice'. |

Bobby E took the stage once again to announce that he would be presenting the award for 2003 Defensive Player of the Year. The top three candidates include: Adam Browne, Alex Parr, and 2003 Most Improved Player Craig Schattner. As the camera went to a close up on all three players, Adam Browne was noticed to be bitter about the previous award mumbling something about him having the biggest player progression. |

Bobby E opened the envolope and revealed that Adam Browne had been voted the 2003 Defensive Player of the Year with 41% of the vote. Browne jogged to the stage in an effort to utilize the exercise opportunity and then proceeded to explain in his acceptance speech that, "My player attributes for Defense should be around 98 for next season". |

With the field wide open for the next award, nine players were anxiously awaiting the announcement of the next award: The 2-man of the Year award. Bobby E quickly takes the stage to relieve the nine nominees of any anticipation. With 40% of the vote, Craig Isenbart was awarded the 2-man of the year award. The 2-man of the Year Award has always been an award to reward the future stars of the league. Only those with honorable game and character off the court can win this award. In 2002 the DWL awarded Brian Cosker the 2-man trophy, and word has it that he is off doing bigger and better things now. Rumor has it that he is even doing community service. Knowing the honor of being the 2-man of the year, Craig took the stage and accepted the award stating, "I see myself as a roll model. I'm tough to stop on the court and I attribute that to my shot of Whisky before every game". |

The 2003 awards were coming to a conclusion as the 2003 Most Valuable Player trophy was placed on the stage. Bobby E walked out on stage with the envolope in hand with DWL superstars awaiting the final vote anxiously. Would Vadim Shenderey win his second MVP award in as many years? Did Agent Cody Banks' petition to the league to make Jeff Schattner MVP work? Is Adam Browne fit enough to win this game of survival of the fittest? Bobby E opened the envolope and announced that Vadim Shenderey had won his second straight DWL MVP Award. |

With three double-doubles, Vadim Shenderey lead his team to a 4-1 record. Recieving 35% of the vote, Vadim's closest competing nominee was Adam Browne with 21%. With impressive stats and repeated domination on the court, Vadim accepted the award with a humble acceptance speech, "Its not about the stats at all, its all about winning games". With two MVP awards resting in his trophy case, soon we shall know if a Joe's Trophy with join them. |
