| Christian Thames enlisted with Company B, 4th Texas Cavalry, General Sibley's Brigade. The 10 companies were organized by Col. James Reily, and assigned unto the Brigade of General Sibley in September, 1861. Christian Thames served four years with Company B, 4th Texas Cavalry, after its organization in Texas. | Christian Thames, born 1831, in Louisiana, relocated to Texas before the war. As Texas entered the war, Christian enlisted with the 4th Texas Confederate Cavalry. Serving his four years, Christian Thames returned home to Texas. His Marriage was to Margaret Willingham. Living in Leon county, Texas, Christian and Margaret Thames farmed the area and according to 1880 census, four children were born unto them. 1880 Census 1. Cordelia Thames, age 13 2. James Thames, 12 3. Mary Thames 8 4. Margaret Thames 2 Mary Thames is my great grandmother. Mary Ruth Thames married James R. Burkeen on August 5, 1894 at Leon county, Texas. Mary Ruth Thames died June 12, 1914 in the county, of Comanche, Texas. Burial at the Union cemetery, Comanche county, Texas. |
