BAND HISTORY
November, 1999-
Driven was formed when three music fans, Brian D, Joel, and Brian C formed a band and began to write songs. Little happened in the early days though. Joel and Brian D would write songs (such as "Tonight" and "Automatic"). In April of 2000, the band would hold its first official "practice" and have a "show" that evening. When this ended in disaster the band went back into "hibernation" and don't you hate it when someone uses too many "quote marks" in sentences?
At the end of the summer of 2000, Brian D, Joel, and Brian C once again teamed up and got serious about performing their music. The first songs written were "Automatic" and "L'amour". In this time they performed a medley of two songs at the BHS talent show under the name "Dim Wish". (don't ask what that means). They would go on changing the band's name for ever. It was after this performance that Brian D, Joel, and Brian C, auditioned an up and coming bassist named Dan Quiray. Dan joined the band immediately and the lineup was finished.
In January of 2001, the band (now under the name Subject To Change) played a set at the BHS Battle of the Bands. Winning 3rd place and an exorbitant amount of money they went on changing their name. Finally, in Spring of 2001, they settled on Driven (named after a Rush song). From here the band really began to take off and be noticed by their millions of adoring fans...
On May 17, 2001, Driven strayed outside of Burrillville to play at The Call in Providence for the Rattlehead Records Open ISE competition. With this they received a recording of the set they did there and sold it as an "EP".
More shows were picked up after such as on July 7, 2001, Driven played a Family Festival in Burrillville. (let's not talk too much about this show shall we...). In August, the band went back to Providence to play The Call again in the Rattlehead Records ISE Summer Session.
In late 2001, the band started to record demos. Two were done with Dan's Uncle (Mr. Ugly). "I Can't Write" and "Prissy Boy" were produced while rough versions of "The Kitchen Table Song" and "Automatic" were recorded. Around Christmas, Joel got a digital recorder and the band records off of that now.
From there the band has been progressing. People like the band, the band likes the people, and everyone gets along. Three years of hard work is paying off for something finally. So long and Goodnight...
