Then after about month of practicing all the time it was time to start recording. We arrived at the studio around 10:00am to setup up our equipment. We met the guys that were recording and producing the album "Richard Easterling" and "Huston Barger". They were kool guys, but the atmosphere was so different than what we had ever expierienced. The first day the drum tracks were gonna be recorded. Napier was nervous like the rest of us, but he did a great job. It took about 6 hours to do the drum tracks. It was time to go home and get some rest. The next day it was time for Rob to record the bass tracks. Like most bass players he was in the control room with Huston and Richard looking at him while we layed down the tracks. He was also nervous but did a great job. It took about 6 and a half ours to lay down the bass tracks. The next day it was time for Josh to record the guitar tracks. First he layed down the rhythem tracks, the he layed down the lead tracks. It sounded great. He was playing awesome. He finished the all the tracks in about 7 hours or so. The next day would be the last. Adkins was to record his vocal tracks. Adkins went and and layed down the vocals and he was doing aweseome. I had never heard his voice sound so good. He went right through the songs one after another like he had did it many times before. It took him about 8 hours to lay down the vocals. Then we ready to mix the album. It was a strange expierience, but fun. It was kool going through all the effects. But after about three hours we was finished. Richard was gonna master the album then send off for the copies. In between that time we was telling people about the album. Everyone was excited it was so kool we felt like rock stars. After about three weeks the cd's and tapes finally came in. With the cover and all it looked so kool. We started selling the cd's to our friends and people we knew. They were selling quick. it only took us four months to pay off our loan for the cd's and tapes. We sent one to WAMX X106.3 so we could have it played over Load and Local, a radio show for unsigned bands. It was strange hearing your tunes over the radio. Then one day a DJ from the station called and said they needed a band to play the Monster Truck rally in Huntington. They said the needed a warm up band for the rally we thought that would be kool, so we accepted the offer. The show was booked a week from that day. We worked on a set for the show. After the week was up we took all our equipment up thier and set it up, it sounded awesome in the Civic Center. It came time to play and we started to jam, we played one song and the guy running the show said we were too loud and needed to turn it down. We said its a monster truck rally dude. We continued playing about four songs then he came over again and said if we didn't turn it down we would be kicked out of the rally. We played one more song and they said we had to pack it up. So we loaded up the equipment and left. Everyone got a kick out of getting booted out of a monster truck rally for being too loud. On the way home Adkins was listening to a local metal show called Metal Meltdown. They played really kool stuff, it was an awesome show. And somehow they had heard about us getting kicked out for being too loud and was giving us tons of airplay. We called in and talked to the guys who ran it and did a few radio interviews, we got to know them pretty well and we had alot in common. Their dudes names were Adam and Ledford.Adam cam up with the idea of having us come up to the station and play a live show over the air. The people who listened to the show thought it would be kool as well so we set it up. Josh and Rob went up to the station a week before the show to do a interview and talk about the show. It was alot of fun, peopel calling in wanting to ask them questions about Driven and what songs they had planned on playing on the set. We was really pumped up about this. It was going to be nothing like we had ever did. The day arrived so quickly. We got to the station about 7:00pm to set up our stuff, it took us about an hour to get the sound right. We went on at 9:00pm. Everyone decided to open up the show with The ones you love. It was so awesome. After the first song the lines were full of people wanting to talk to us and request songs. Half was through the set we took a little break to take some calls. We played on till about 2:00 am. Everyone had so much fun. We ended up doing a couple more shows after that, it was really fun playing on Metal Meltdown. We are also being put on a compilation cd called Subground. It seems alot of doors of opprutunity are opening for us. And now we are promoting our songs over the internet, giving our mp3's away to people who take interest in our tunes. Driven really appreciates people who takes interest in our songs. Our fans mean alot to us. DRIVEN |
