| It's Tour time again! The date is 15, December. Meeting time is 7:30am in Jamul at the corner of Highway 94/Campo Road and Steele Canyon Road. Park in the lot on the south side of the 94/Campo Road where you will fnd the Greek Sombrero restaurant and a produce stand. You cannot miss it. Across the street is a 7/11. We will be driving through some great east county twisties heading north east and crossing under interstate 8. From here we will drive through the beautiful Cuyumaca State Park past Cuyumaca Lake to our midway destination of Julian. We have made breakfast arrangements at the Julian Cafe. Their seating is limited to 60, which they have kindly agreed to reserve all seats for our club. Breakfast will be at 9:00am. Please rsvp no later than 2, December with the exact number of people. Please understand if you do not show up you have eliminated a seat for another member. If you are unable to get a breakfast spot on the tour, please be assured you are more than welcome to join the driving. Please, just understand that due to the size of the Julian Cafe, you will need to make your own breakfast arrangements. There are a few other breakfast spots within walking distance on the main street. We will drive to the desert from Julian on Banner Grade, making a brief stop at the traffic circle in Borrego Springs to stretch our legs before driving back up through the mountains to our final gathering point to Santa Ysabel. If you have never driven this route you do not know what you have been missing! This is a RAIN OR SHINE tour!! One of the most memorable Tours/Drives I have experienced has been in marginal weather. It's like going from winter to spring in the same day within about one hours drive! On one fortunate occasion it actually snowed four inches the night before a tour and the next morning was as blue a sky as you have ever seen! The road was a black strip through mountains and trees covered in white. Of course, it was chilly but, once half way to Borrego Springs it was shirt sleeve weather. Another time we had rain all the way to Julian and beautiful weather in Borrego once again. It really is a great way to enjoy the capabiliies of your sports car and yourself. Maps will be handed out just before departing. Please see link below to view map. If you have any questions, please, do not hesitate to contact Paul via phone or email. (619) 405-PAUL (7285) |
