GRETCHEN AND TOBY HEADED CCMA WAY
September 2, 2004 - GRETCHEN WILSON and TOBY KEITH have just been announced as very special guest stars on this years CCMA Awards broadcast. Gretchen will actually be making the trip to Edmonton to perform her latest hit, Here For The Party, live on the show. Toby will be appearing in a special performance from the road on his Big Throw Down Tour. CCMA Awards show producers also confirmed that show host, PAUL BRANDT, DOC WALKER, EMERSON DRIVE, CAROLYN DAWN JOHNSON and JASON McCOY will all be performing for this years event. The CCMA Awards will be handed out on September 13th.
EMERSON DRIVE HOMELESS?
August 24, 2004 - First it was DIERKS BENTLEY, and now EMERSON DRIVE! We told you a few days ago that Dierks sold his Nashville area home and lives on a houseboat because of being on the road so much. Seems the guys from Emerson Drive are in the same houseboat, as it were. DANICK DUPELLE of the group says the guys had apartments in Nashville for two years when they first got signed, but once they hit the road they were home only about ten days a year. And even then, they tended to stay in hotels. They decided to ditch the apartments and settle in to life on the tour bus.
EMERSON DRIVE STILL STANDING
August 7, 2004 - On Wednesday the Canadian Country Music Association released the nominees for their awards which are being held on September 13 in Edmonton. EMERSON DRIVE received 5 nods; Vocal Group/Duo of the Year, Video of the Year for Last One Standing, Website of the Year, Manager of the Year and best of all each band member was nominated for Musician of the year. EMERSON DRIVE spent the end of 2003 and the spring of 2004 on the road with SHANIAs UP! Tour. Their second album, What If, was released on June 29th and their second single from the album, entitled November, hits radio on August 16th.
ITS A WORKING BIRTHDAY FOR E.D.S BRAD
July 21, 2004 - BRAD MATES from EMERSON DRIVE shares a birthday with PAUL BRANDT today, and we know hes definitely working on his birthday. After wrapping up their stint on SHANIA TWAINs mega-successful tour, the E.D. boys have gone to play some select solo shows for the rest of July and August. Tonight, theyre at the La Grange County Fair in Indiana and this weekend, they move on to the huge Country Thunder Festival in Wisconsin. Happy 26th, Brad!!
WHAT IFTRAVOLTA CAME TO YOUR CONCERT?
July 15, 2004 - When SHANIA and EMERSON DRIVE wrapped up the Up! World Tour in Florida last weekend, they went out with a bang! JOHN TRAVOLTA was in the audience and caught up with Emerson Drive backstage. BRAD MATES commented, We all have the utmost respect for him. Hes down to earth and he has this magnetism that just draws you in and makes you comfortable. One moment with the guy explains why hes made it to where he is now. The guys and John posed for pics together before the tour officially wrapped up. But thats just the beginning for Emerson Drive, who are back on the road on their own tour this fall.
EMERSON DRIVE BOW TO SHANIA
July 8, 2004 - The saying goes that most of the learning you do in life is done outside of the classroom and in regards to EMERSON DRIVE, most of their learning was done on the road with SHANIA. Aside from learning how to put together a world tour and perform before thousand of screaming fans, they also learned how to become a part of SHANIAs road family. Whats striking is the quality of people with her and how great, down-to-earth people they are they make us feel a part of the show and not just an opening act, says BRAD MATES. The guys definitely get an A for effort and, who knows after all theyve learned on the road maybe well see them headlining their own tour next year!
EMERSON DRIVE MAKE THEIR MARX
July 5, 2004 - EMERSON DRIVE are proud of their new album What If, but even prouder is their producer pop singer/songwriter RICHARD MARX. Richard says he couldnt wait to work with the group, whom he calls exceptional. But now that he has worked with them, he couldnt be more impressed. Marx says, They have the willingness to do what it takes, not to be stars, but to make great records and have a successful career. These are six guys from Canada that want to be know as the best band in their format. The group recorded the new album in Marx studio just outside Chicago.
EMERSON DRIVE RELEASE LATEST CD
July 1, 2004 - Earlier this week the latest CD for the boys of EMERSON DRIVE was released. It is called What If and its full of tracks that the guys are all quite proud of. In an industry review it was said that the boys are a bunch of real men who arent afraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves. The CD is sure to fly off shelves, but hopefully the guys will have some time to celebrate Canada and remember the great country where they got their start!
NEW EMERSON DRIVE ON THE SHELVES
June 30, 2004 - What If, the latest by EMERSON DRIVE is now on the shelves. Produced by Richard Marx, it is an album that the guys are really happy with. Recently they were in Los Angeles to perform at the Staples Center and they were swarmed by girls of all ages. The success of their first album paired with the success of touring with SHANIA has made them a household name. What If is the second album for the boys of EMERSON DRIVE and according to critics, it is sure to fly off the shelves. You better pick one up soon!
EMERSON DRIVE & DR. PHIL?
June 28, 2004 - What do you think EMERSON DRIVE and DR. PHIL have in common? As of Friday night, they both shared a stage with THOMAS HARRIS. Thomas is Dr. Phil's weight loss "poster boy," also an aspiring artist. Thomas lost 98 pounds in front of about 6 to 7 million Dr. Phil viewers recently, and went on a date in front of as many people. So performing with Emerson Drive Backstage at the Tin Roof Restaurant in Nashville tonight is no sweat for Thomas: "I'm more excited than I am nervous right now," says the photo lab owner. Emerson Drive are gearing up for the release of their sophomore album, What If?, due out this week.
NOVEMBER IN JULY FOR EMERSON DRIVE
June 25, 2004 - EMERSON DRIVE just wrapped up shooting for their new video. The clip is for their upcoming single, November. The guys, who have been on SHANIAs Up! world tour over the past three months, chose beautiful Vancouver as the setting for last Wednesdays video shoot. With a temperature of 28 degrees Celcius, the group had to use special effects to make the hot summer-like day into a miserable winter one. The guys appear to have nasty winter colds, but thats actually hay fever from all the dust on the set. Watch for Emerson Drives latest album, What If, in stores June 29th. And check out CMT Central the same day, this coming Tuesday, for an exclusive interview with Emerson Drive! Thats Tuesday at 7 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Pacific.
EMERSON DRIVE HAVING A FIESTA
June 14, 2004 - One lucky girl in the US is going to win a date with BRAD MATES. The contest is being put on by dish magazine and the grand prize is some one-on-one time with the hunky lead singer. You can also win a personal phone call from your favourite band member or a duffel bag filled with cool stuff. Only problem is gals, even though these guys are Canadian, we cant enter! But CMT and Ole El Paso have something even better. You can win a Fiesta and have EMERSON DRIVE perform in your own backyard. Log on to cmtcanada.com for more details.
EMERSON DRIVE: WHAT A HOMECOMING!
May 17, 2004 - EMERSON DRIVE felt right at home at their recent SHANIA show in Montreal. Not one seat was empty at the Bell Centre show which holds 22,000 people! When the boys finished their set, they were greeted with a huge standing ovation! The guys and Shania are headed back to the U.S. now, with stops in Charleston, Ft. Wayne, Grand Rapids, Louisville, and Columbus.
EMERSON DRIVE CRUISE INTO CENTRAL
May 11, 2004 - EMERSON DRIVE are getting set to release a new album and tonight theyre on CMT Central to talk about it! BRAD, DAVE, MIKE, PATRICK, DANNICK and DALE drop by to chat with ELISSA LANSDELL about their recent travels on SHANIAs Up! world tour, as well as their new album, produced by the famed RICHARD MARX. The guys new album, What If? Is due out in stores June 29th. Theyre preparing to shoot a new video for the second single off that album, called November. Check out Emerson Drive on CMT Central tonight at 7 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Pacific, only on CMT!
STANDING ROOM ONLY FOR E.D. FANS!
April 2, 2004 - A recent EMERSON DRIVE show in Colorado Springs got so packed it was standing room only! Apparently, once the show was sold out, more than 350 people still tried to get in. The response feels great, says BRAD MATES. It seems the buzz about Emerson Drives live show has been building. People know that if they come to an Emerson Drive show, they are going to have a great time. The boys new album, called What If?, is expected out June 29th.
EMERSON DRIVE MEMBER CARDED!
March 10, 2004 - PATRICK BOURQUE of EMERSON DRIVE had to rely on some unusual identification last week at the CRS convention in Nashville. The bassist was stopped by security as he tried to enter the Nashville Convention Center. While Pat didnt have his official laminated identification, he was able to point out his face on the huge DreamWorks billboard sign located above the escalators that lead down to the exhibit hall.
A ROYAL FLUSH FOR EMERSON DRIVE
May 4, 2004 - The boys from EMERSON DRIVE feel like royalty theyve earned themselves a brand new bus, complete with commode! After years of riding around in a little van packed with all six guys and their equipment, the guys have an impressive new tour bus. In addition to the bathroom, BRAD MATES says the bus contains an iron and a vacuum cleaner. Brad says he also cant live without his golf clubs and his cell phone oh, and he loves the show 24 so much he has the first two seasons on DVD.
LAST ONE PADDLING
April 28, 2004 - Ever wonder what the guys from EMERSON DRIVE do on their time off? After a string of SHANIA Up! World tour dates, the guys headed off down the Sewanee River last Sunday for a bit of boat paddling. The break was very much deserved, and BRAD & DALE were particularly happy with some warm weather fun, since they missed the debut tour dadte in Pensacola, Florida a couple of weeks back due to a blizzard. Once they did make it to their Pensacola show, the band did such a great job they were asked to add an additional ten minutes to their set!
DRIVING INTO DANGER
March 24, 2004 - Looks like EMERSON DRIVE might want to rename themselves Emerson Walkor Emerson Flyor anything other than Drive, after a few major bus mishaps. On their way from Medicine Hat, Alberta, en route to a U.S. gig, an owl flew into the buss windshield, smashing it. As they drove around looking for someone to repair the windshield, three deer ran into the side of the bus, causing more significant damage. Some 30 hours later, the guys were able to repair the windshield, but not the rest of the bus. Despite all of these hold ups, the guys ended up at their gig in Lynchburg, Virginia. When asked how that particular trip was, DANICK DUPELLE simply answered, It was long. No one on the bus was injured.
EMERSON DRIVE: PARLEZ-ING FRANCAIS AVEC EJA
March 2, 2004 - EMERSON DRIVE are getting set to go back on the road with SHANIA TWAIN, and they cant wait. Theyve had a blast touring with the superstar, and hanging out with Shania while on tour. But Shania wasnt the only one the band was hanging out with. Shanias two-year-old EJA is on tour with her. Apparently, Shania and hubby MUTT speak only French to Eja, figuring it will be easy for him to pick up English later on. The guys in Emerson Drive just so happen to be bilingual, a few of them from Quebec, so they were able to talk to the wee one as well as Mom and Dad. DAVID PICHETTE, one of the band members hailing from Quebec, says, Shania comes and sits down with us. Mutt Lange is around all the time.
I SHOULD BE SURFIN
February 11, 2004 - EMERSON DRIVE is back in town and back on the internet! The guys are just back from a working vacation in Mexico (is there such a thing?), and theyve just announced the launch of a brand new website. The guys arent very superstitious and so have decided to go ahead with the web launch on Friday the 13th. www.emersondrive.com will offer the standard stuff, but will also contain bonus features. One section gives info on each band member; there are screen savers; a page to view videos and listen to songs; merchandise page; newsletter; an exclusive fan section, and a virtual game. The special interactive fan section is reserved for fan club members only.
