Influences: Bex Reed Why hes the greatest: On May 29 Zinger along with Sir Edmund Hillary "knocked the bastard off". Together they were the first people to climb to the summit of the worlds highest mountain Mt Everest. We salute Tenzing for all round greatness, and for the little known fact that as well as working with Hillary to conquer Everest, he saved the life of our Hero Sir Edmund Hillary on the pairs final climb to the top. The pairs final climb almost ended in tragedy when Sir Edmund tumbled down a massive crevasse, when he crashed through a block of ice. Quick thinking Tenzing quickly tightened the rope that bound them preventing Hillary from crashing into the bottom of the crevasse and allowing him to climb out of the sheer-walled ice chasm. This just before the two took on the most extreme challenge known to man and conquered it. We salute you Tenzing in the feild of all round greatness. |
