| Review: Tonight was surpossed to be the opening ceremony for the 2003 Drinkolympic year, but that was put on hold for safety reasons as the venue was streched beyond its capacity. Numbers swelled without warning, and in the end Drinkolympics President Dan Valks had no other option but to pospone the event. Security officer of the night Steve Murdoch with a very commendable effort managed to dispand the crowd, and in doing so sacraficed his own participation in the nights events. After much debate and a brief power crisis, the Drinkolympics commitee decided to go ahead with a Drinkolympics demonstration for the remainder of the crowd. However it was quite apparant with no points on the line, the participating Drinkolympians were not going to risk injury before Wednesday nights World Cup. Rob Fawcett gained his first MVD award with an impressive personal best, 26 in the 50km walk, While Bex Reed deservedly picked up MID for her 9 in the same event. Biggest Disapointment of the night went to Anna and Cristin for failing to compete in one event. |
