Drinking Mercury is currently working in the studio. We have plenty of ideas about what's going to go down, but we're going to record a lot of songs. At least one release will be out before 2003 is thru, hopefully as soon as possible, but we all know that some shit doesn't always go as fast as other shit. So yeah. Mothers, cover the ears of your children, the Mercury sound will soon be unleashed to the world.

The show last night was amazing, a great time was definitely had. Thank you so much to the people who came and watched us, to the people at The Net for letting us play, and especially our friends Two Minute Nothing for inviting us to play, even if it was at such a short notice. The show was fun, the sets were great, and we had a great time just hanging out. It will definitely be done again.

    9/20/03
URGENT SHOW NEWS!!!! We are playing at THE NET in LAKE ODESSA with TWO MINUTE NOTHING at 8 PM TONIGHT!! 3 DOLLAR COVER CHARGE, we go on first. It's going to be awesome so come check it out, The Net is located in downtown Lake Odessa near railroad tracks and stuff, it's easy to find. 9/3/03
I've been told the end is here. Because the end is the beginning.

    8/11/03
We regret to inform you of the cancellation of Saturday's show at the Armory. Tommy came back from vacation and, reports are sketchy, but it appears that he burned the Armory to the ground. The lack of venue, coupled with Tommy already sentenced to 17 years hard labor (anyone who tells you the legal system is slow is full of it) has forced the cancellation of the show. But there are rumblings of Tommy's appeal going succesfully, and there is the possibility of a local show in the next couple weeks, as well as fun in the sun with our home boys in 2 Minute Nothing. So stay tuned. (PS: If anyone has a garage or something and wants to throw a party Saturday, we'll play it in a heartbeat.)

    7/31/03
Yo. Drinking Mercury will be playing at the Ionia Armory August 16 (that's a saturday kids) at a deal set up by Angela and James of the Elsie All About the Music festival fame. Hang tight on more specifics Mercuryheads. On another note, tonight at the Intersection the mighty XU is going to be performing their new set for the first time i think. but i can't go since i'm going up north for a week (Tommy by the way) but anyone willing to go see the best band in West Michigan should go check it out. http://www.xusux.com. word up.

    7/17/03
where can i turn when my fair weather friends cop out? what it's all about.. . each time things start to happen again, i think i got something good goin for myself, but what goes wrong... sometimes i feel very sad. can't find nothin i can put my heart and soul into. sometimes i feel very sad. i guess i just wasn't made for these times.

    7/10/03
Our show's in two days... everyone should come. Seriously, it's gonna rock. The official website of the festival is http://www.allaboutthemusic.cjb.net. There have been conflicting reports of when we play.. we're playing either from 3:00-4:00 or from 4:00 to 5:00... so unless if we find out for sure in the next day or so... 3 would be a good bet to be there for. Yeah. Be there, and be ready to rock. Please.

    6/20/03
July 12th Drinking Mercury will be playing at a music festival of some sort...4 to 5p.m.....just thought you would like to know. It's somewhere by Owosso....here is a map...http://elsiemap.cjb.net/.

    6/19/03
Tonight we played a party with Two Minute Nothing. An enjoyable time. Mucho gracias to the fellas of Two Minute Nothing, they truly are some of the best guys we've met so far. I think it can all be summed up in the joke we told last night onstage: "What's the deal with homework? You're not working on your home!"

    6/6/03
Have you ever felt as if you were nothing? your consciousness just randomly floating around...interpreting everything the way it desires. living a life made up in your mind. have you ever felt like that? yeah....neither have i

    5/19/03
Has anyone ever thought about what it would have been like if that one janitor never caught the burglars during that whole Watergate thing in 1972? I mean, would Nixon have been remembered as a great president for ending the Vietnam War or what? Maybe Democracy as we know it would have just kinda shattered and gone to Hell in a handbag. It could've led to world peace even... I assume Tricky Dick had some stuff up his sleeve for his last term as president. But no, the janitor guy just had to catch the burglars.

    5/5/03
Saturday's show was a great time and a half. Case In Point's set was electrifying, 2 Minute Nothing's was quite splendid, and Foundry... well, they did a spot on cover of "Killing in the Name" by Rage Against the Machine, need I say more? Big thanks to Case In Point for setting up the show, and best of luck to Mike. You'll always be a member of the Drinking Mercury family (tearful hug.) Man, I'm cheesy. We recorded our set, and although the mix is off in a lot of it, we should be able to pull a couple tracks off of it and put them up for download or something. Crazy.

    4/27/03
This Saturday shall rock! Case In Point, Foundry, Two Minute Nothing and us... i'd go see it, even if I wasn't one of "us." I like me. The show begins at 7 PM-ish and it costs 3 dollars at the door... good times around the corner. On a sidenote, one year ago today, we played our first show as Kevin, Tommy, and Michael, an acoustic show at the Daily Grind. That was the time we didn't get kicked out. Wow, a full year has passed, who would've thought? Well, anyone with a calendar or something. Too true.

    4/18/03
The show last night went great, it was awesome to have all the people that came out come out, it really means a lot more than you can know. The set (or sets actually) seemed very special last night... bringing "Summer Winds" back after like 10 months was real nice; "My Last Misery" is always great to play... and paying tribute to Red Nerfer with a cover of "Cow Masturbation" (seriously, what the hell is up with that name? haha) was more fun than anyone can imagine. Kevin's set was really special, I think anyone that was there can kind of tell what I mean. We're not sure when we're gonna play at Caffe Latte again... but we're definitely playing May 3rd at the Armory with Case In Point and Foundry, so there shall be rock in the near future. Rock!

    4/17/03
Happy Birthday to Kevin. That fool shares a birthday with one Maynard James Keenan, so this day is just full of celebration. To top it off, we're playing at Caffe Latte tonight some time after 9, we'll probably be one of the earlier acts. All three of us are gonna be there tonight, but we're doing things a little different this time... are you intrigued? You should be.

    4/13/03
It appears we will be at Caffe Latte again this Thursday (4/17). To correct the previous report, admission is indeed 3 dollars, sorry about the mis-post of being free. But you get 3 dollars in free coffee with admission. It starts at 9... we'll try and get on first. And we can only hope the Tongues From Outer Space play again... that was somethin. If Kevin's alive we'll attempt to get him in the fold. Peace.

    4/9/03
Michael and Tommy are planning an acoustic set on Thursday (4/10) night at Caffe Latte in East Lansing (Kevin's busy prepping his "next big thing" ;) in South Carolina.) We're not really sure when we'll play or anything, but it'll be after 8 for sure, so come by and hang out with us. Admission is free, it's an open mic dealy, and Caffe Latte has great open mic nights, so a splendid time should be on hand.

    4/1/03
It is with great regret we announce the break up of Drinking Mercury. Kevin was quoted as saying "I just couldn't do it anymore, not with Tommy constantly waking me up at night with a shotgun blast to my cieling. I mean, ceiling plaster doesn't grow on trees does it?" Tommy was quoted as saying "I just couldn't feel the magic anymore" in reference to his Gypsy curse wearing off. Michael was last seen shirtless driving a hippie van with the Dhali Lama down the Gaza Strip. Or maybe it was Muir. Whatever. Tommy is returning to his first love, beer; while Kevin is recording his solo album "Portrait of an American Kevin" featuring himself on acoustic guitar and vocals, backed by legendary underground hardcore band Panda Bear Death Fuck. Michael and Senor David Grohlo (Dave Grohl's Mexicano counterpart! Muy bein!) are currently in talks to form a progressive hardcore country band, One Away From Teething. So, spread the love, cuz we sure as fuck aren't anymore. (April Fools!)

    3/24/03
What is going on in the world of Drinking Mercury you ask? Well i have absolutely no clue. We'll probably have a show or two coming up (most likely free) and will feature some pretty kickass bands....and us. So put that in your pipe and smoke it!

    3/16/03
The show last night went quite well. We would like to thank XU for letting us play with them and for ROCKIN! uh huh. sweet.

    3/13/03
Heuy brother! The show is in two days (squeals like a giddy schoolgirl.) We have XU's link up in the links page, go there to download some muzizzy from the shizzy XUzizzy. Peace.

    3/6/03
Slightly pointless update for March: We play at the Armory with XU in 9 days, Mercuryheads. Doors open at 7 PM and it costs 5 dollars at the door. A main objective of this show, apart from bringing the rock by the canoeload, is to help XU fund their upcoming album. So come out, listen to some great music and help support one of the best acts around. The show will just consist of us and XU, so get ready to feel the wrath. Hear us roar. Meow.

    2/20/03
Everyone mark your calendars! On Saturday, March 15, Drinking Mercury will open for the mighty XU at the Armory. This show will be the show to end all shows... but let's hope nothing ends... um, the show for everything to continue! There we go. Time and admission price will be added when the info becomes more concrete. Keep spreading the Mercury Love.

    2/2/03
The show last night was absolutely horrible...but people seemed to like it so that's good. We were invited to come back and play so we just might do that. On a different note, case in point is playing at stooges in grand rapids FEB. 21st..you should go. oh yeah...and we have a couple shows coming up but we don't have the exact dates yet. you shall be informed.

    1/28/03
We are playing at Shiloh Community Church at 8 PM this saturday. Cost is 2 dollars... the church is located on Long Lake Road, about 1/4 mile west of M-66. Will rock... very much so!

    1/16/03
Ahoy... this is Tommy, just hanging out in multi-media class... Laura Nelson says "good fuck" (interpret that the way you want!)... i just did an exam... gnarly.... i'm listening to Smashing Pumpkins... Gish is so great... i'm stoked for Zwan's cd... Laura just hit me... um... we're playing at Shiloh in a couple weeks, and in Owosso next month sometime... should be cool. yeah... whoo!

    1/2/03
The show tuesday went quite well. We would like to thank Disturbing Grace for their very well done opening set..and whoever it is that had us play in the first place. January 18th or possibly the 25th Drinking Mercury is going to be playing a show at the Shiloh Community Church for a youth group type dealy. There won't be any churchy events, just us. So if you would like to come see us it's only $2.00 at the door. The church is on Long Lake rd right off of 66 (left turn if heading north) and the show will start at 8p.m.

    12/31/02
Whoa... this is like, totally, the last update of this year. Yeah, it was a good year, at the beginning of 2002 we were just a band that jammed in Kevin's basement, Tommy, Kevin, and Erik Krueger... and here we are, many many gigs later, with a reportoire of our own material, Tommy, Kevin, and Michael. Here's hoping 2003 will be even better... i don't see why it won't be. Anyone with nothing to do tonight should drop by the Merchant's building at the Fairgrounds (big blue building, connected to the Exhibition building) and come see us. Just tell the people at the door that you're "with the band" and you can just walk in. Hope to see everyone there. Piece.

    12/27/02
Hope everything is fine in the world of non-Mercury related things... but then again, we are the center of the universe, so everything's related in some way... so, yeah, we're playing on new year's eve at the fairgrounds at this skateboarding thing with Disturbing Grace... once we find out where it is, we'll post it... whoo!

    12/15/02
The show last night went quite well...we felt we played better at the last armory show, but had more fun playing this one. We found a new reason to hate the armory today too. The man who was running it tonight is a very very sick man. But we would like to thank Oops all dudes and those one people that just kinda got onstage and played. We don't know who they are but they were definately there. good day.

    12/13/02
We're all looking forward to the show tomarrow, even though we recently discovered the Armory's true horrid face (they suck). But yes, Case in Point has dropped out of the show so it will just be Oops all dudes and ourselves. Still a decent show.

    12/1/02
The show last night was great, thanks to everyone who came out. Case In Point and One Way Street put on great shows and we had a lot of fun hanging out with them. A big thanks to Luke Schmidt for his great solo set in place of Xu's set. Everyone was great, we're going to keep doing these shows, so be prepared to spread the Mercury Love. And don't forget about One Way Street, Case In Point, and Xu... they get love too. We'll see everyone again at the Armory on December 14 with Case In Point and Oops All Dudes. Piece.

    11/28/02
Don't forget about our show at the Ionia Armory this saturday and December 14th (that's two weeks from saturday). That show will consist of Oops all dudes, Case In Point, and ourselves.

    11/21/02
Case In Point has been added to the lineup on the 30th. That just about solidifies the awesomeness.

    11/20/02
Everyone should go on the 30th. If you give us a good enough reason we'll put you on the guest list, but don't use "cuz goats fuckin rule!" anymore cuz that one's getting old. Goats do rule, but let's see some creativity. Also, everyone should go to MSU on Friday to see Ben Kweller. If you don't know Ben Kweller, you should. He's definitely one of the very best of the up and coming musicians, and deserves to be known by everyone. His CD is called Sha Sha, and he was also in a band called Radish a few years back, and their CD turns up every now and then. Nich Richard says hi. But not Laura Nelson... oh wait, she does. See ya.

    11/14/02
Drinking Mercury has returned. After performing sexual favors for a witch doctor, Mike succeeded in re-animating Tommy's corpse and we are ready to rock again! We will be playing at the Ionia Armory with Xu and One Way Street on November 30th, and at the Armory again on December 14th with Oops All Dudes and Case In Point. More shows will be added, so be prepared to spread the Mercury Love.

    11/6/02
Due to the untimely (but not unexpected) death of Tommy we have been forced to postpone shows. However, it is extremely likely he will be mysteriously ressurected in a week or two, so we'll let you know.

    11/3/02
On Saturday, the 9th, we will be opening for the band Interchange in Lake Odessa. This band is Mike's older brother Daniel's band, and will put on an awesome show. E-mail Mike for more information: [email protected].

    10/9/02
Working on getting a show together for the end of the month we're hoping. More info will be given as it is available. Nothing else to say, aside from Mike Boyes is the coolest man alive, Kevin Adams is underrated in the world of felatio, and Tommy is under the delusion that he is a leprechaun. Peace.

    9/22/02
We never underestimate the destructive power of change. Or cheese for that matter.

    9/19/02
No real news to report... just sitting in multi-media and being real fucking bored... we've played a few low profile shows lately that have been a lot of fun, and we are ready for the acoustic rock on Saturday, which we hope to see every one of you at.... unless if you have a valid excuse, like you're going to a MSU football game (those damn McCord boys and that no good Petersen kid!!) But for those of you looking for a nice time to enjoy some music and just hang out, be at the fairgrounds at 3 PM on Saturday. Who knows... if we get enough demand we just might be able to get Panda Bear Death Fuck together just to top the show off. Whoo hoo!

    9/4/02
Show info: We will be playing at the fairgrounds at the Fall Fest thing that the city does at 3:00 PM on Saturday the 21st... the show will be mostly acoustic, but it shall still rock (guaranteed.) So come by... you've got nothing better to do but spread the Mercury Love.

    8/28/02
Lyrics are finally posted in the music section... so go check out the words behind the music. Enter at your own risk.

    8/19/02
The show on Saturday August 17th had a rocky start (One Way Street couldn't make it) but things eventually smoothed over and we took the stage and had a great time rocking out. The new originals and covers were greeted with enthusiasm and people were even spotted singing along to old standards like "Reminisce" and "My 1972." Thanks to Unorganized Annoyances, The Hopeless Romantics, Bryan Hilton, and Panda Bear Death Fuck for playing the show. We're going to play the Armory again in September or October when we can get Case In Point and Xu to join us for the rockfest. Also, on September 21st we're going to play at the Fair Grounds in an event organized by Eric Curtis. In the meantime, keep spreading the Mercury Love.

    8/7/02
On Saturday, August 17th, we will be playing at the Armory in Ionia with some other bands. It will be a great show and only will cost 3 dollars at the door. The show starts at 7:00 and will be the end of summer concert to be at. So tell everyone you know, if you need anymore information leave a message in the guestbook or e-mail Tommy at [email protected].

    7/24/02
Happy Josh Freese day. What started off as a Porcelain show at Stooge's last night became the first Drinking Mercury concert in over a month. The standard songs were played (Reminisce, Fail To Keep, The 8th, My 1972) as well as a cover of A Perfect Circle's "Brena" with Tyler and Bryan on hand. We've come up with a system of trading between bass and guitar for certain songs, but most songs will need both guitars upon which we'll have to find a way to have a bassline. But the show was extremely fun, we talked to the band Tenspeed who've we met before at Stooge's, as well as a drunk guy who kept on making fun of us for our long hair and Weezer shirts and hats, but eventually changed his tune and became our friend by the end of our set. We'll be back again next Tuesday at Stooge's, probably with both Porcelain and Drinking Mercury. Now I must go, for I really need to piss, because we drank a gallon of water between the three of us on the way home from Grand Rapids. Cheery-o.

    7/21/02
Drinking Mercury is still up to it's usual mercuryness. Some songs are being reworked to contain piano/keyboard parts while we're all working with sometime members Tyler Hardy and Bryan Hilton in a band called Porcelain, that plays mostly covers but has a few Mike and Bryan penned songs. Also, Tommy is playing bass with Dave Petersen and Tyler in another band during this semi-hiatus we're on. Hell, we're on semi-hiatus more often than not. But do not worry, we're shooting to have an album finished by the end of August, and plans on more shows in about 2 weeks. Until then... uh... Xu's a good band... check them out.

    6/28/02
The band wishes to pay respect to legendary bassist John Entwistle of the Who and the John Entwistle Band, who died Wednesday at the age of 57. Entwistle was one of the best bass players in the history of music, and will be missed. Tommy was quoted saying, "Entwistle's death surprised me. His bass playing was unique and added so much to music... I particularly enjoy the bass on "Pinball Wizard," that sounds really cool. I've gotten out my Who records to pay tribute to an amazing bass player." Niether Kevin or Mike could be reached for comment but we could assume something along the lines of "very tragic," "shocked and stunned," and "a great loss" would be said. Ironically, shortly after his death, Tommy purchased a bass guitar. Coincidence... or does it mean something? (We need to start playing shows again before I go insane.)

    6/23/02
All's well in the Mercury world right now. We're taking a brief break from shows for a couple weeks, mainly to work on new material so people won't get sick of us. Expect us back soon, hopefully we'll actually get that Elk's Lodge show off the ground... but I'm not holding my breath, haha. Spread the Mercury Love until then.

    6/14/02
Tonight we have a show at Tom Mckendry's open house so if you want to hear some music and eat lots of food stop by and give us a listen. Also we are going to be playing at Matt Moons open house this sunday at around the same time so you can get food there too.

    6/12/02
The show last night at the theater was better than we expected. All the bands sounded great (apparantely even us). There was such a good turn out and we did so damn good that we even ended up getting paid...first time that's ever happened. We would like to thank Upside Drown, Xu, and Eric Curtis for letting us play with them.

    6/4/02
Today is our two year anniversary as a band... according to Mike at least (nobody knows the exact date, but we say that June 4th is it... it's close enough.) But that's not important at all, come Tuesday, June 11th, the awesome Alabama based rock band Upside Drown will be playing in Ionia at the Ionia Theater as part of their national tour, and we're opening up the show. Other acts include A Summer Story, who are based in South Carolina; Eric Curtis, a fellow Ionia man; and Xu, a great rock band from around here. Stay tuned for more information on this show. We hope to see everyone at this show, it will surely be a memorable one.

    6/2/02
Nothing too eventful going on in the Mercury world right now, we're busy with our current job of playing Open Houses around town. If you have an open house and want a band to play, just talk to one of us and we'll gladly set it up.

    5/22/02
The members of Drinking Mercury are now giving bass, guitar, and drum lessons to anyone that would like to take them. They will be every tuesday after school at Kevin Adams house. $10 for 30 minutes of non stop learning. If you are interested e-mail us at [email protected].

    5/20/02
I just wanted to say hello to everybody. Hello.

    5/15/02
Greetings from Drinking Mercury! The band has decided not to do anymore shows at the Daily Grind due to the fact that they kicked us out because of the amount of people. So if you guys can find a place for us to play at it would be much appreciated. Also June 22 we are going to play at the Elks Lodge hopefully with Volume, Xu, Up, One Way Street, and perhaps a couple other bands. Cost will be $3 at the door, no more no less.

    5/12/02

The show at the Daily Grind didn't go exactly as planned. Everything started out very nice until right after P.B.D.F. had played, we were told we had to leave. Do to the amount of people that had attented the show we had to cut it off. But fortunately Stephan Johnson let us play in his garage so the day wasn't a total failure. Let us know about doing a show with your cousin's band sometime Stephan.

    5/10/02
Tomorrow is our show at the Daily Grind. We're really looking forward to giving you guys the best show that we can. Can't wait to see you there!
