The 89-91 Turbo II Engine
In the model years of 89-91 Mazda re-designed the rotary engine in the RX-7. They made the intake and exhaust more efficient, creating more power. They also increased the compression and strengthened up the block so it could withstand more pressure. They were given lighter rotors and the combustion chamber was fully machined for a closer match. The turbo side was changed so that the exhaust pulses would hit the turbine blades without interfering with each other.
I plan on swapping a 89-91 engine into my 88AE. This will give me more potential when it comes to horse power.
I will need one 89-91 Turbo engine will all the accessories, these include the the full intake and exhaust, with the alternator. I will also need the full wiring harness, from the ECU all the way out. I will need the AFM from one also.
I plan on Halteching this engine so that I don't have to worry about band-aid fuel computers and things like that. A Haltech E6K with wiring harness ranges from $1425-$2200.
