What is your name? Ronda Guider - Field trip Co-ordinator
Tell us a bit about yourself I am first and foremost "Mom" to two very creative and unique children. After that, I exchange the many hats all of us women wear-one of those hats being "daycare provider".
Where are you located? Brooklin
What is your Daycare name? Ronda's Playcare
How did you come up with your daycare name? It had been quite some time since I had actually heard my given name ("Mom" is usually all I hear) so, I wanted my daycare name to include "me". The "playcare" part came because I love to play with words. I thought it was cleaver (?)
How long have you been providing daycare? I've been doing daycare for 2 1/2yrs but have been a member of the association for much longer.
What was your "inspiration" to get involved in the daycare field? Like most of us, choosing daycare has come out of a desire to stay home with my children and the necessity to make a living. Beyond that, my love of teaching, creativity and learning from such precious little people has made this a wonderful opportunity. Of course, it helps to be inspired by our friends...like Sherry T.
What is your favorite part of your "new" profession? I enjoy "setting the stage" for the children in my care. I love providing the opportunities and watching them grow and learn new things. Those excited faces make my day!
What was your old profession? no comment given
If you had a $1000 to spend on things for your day care, what would you buy? I wouldn't know where to begin...the practical thing would be to finish the play room walls...but I know I'd want to invest in more equipment for the kids.
How did you learn about the daycare association? Long story...met a friend while selling childrens' clothing through home parties, asked if we could share some craft ideas and she decided it would be easier to introduce me to the group.
How long have you been a member of the day care association? That was nine years ago and I am so entirely thankful!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? My children are getting older now (11 & 12) so I suspect that I will be looking for work outside of the home about that time....but ,I expect that it will in some way involve children.
