Yellow
Yellow is a tart lemon,
The bright sun in a child's drawing,
The color of my jacket
When I was seven.
When I was seven,
Yellow was my hair as well.

Yellow smiley faces
Stare back at me
From dead shop fimo incense burners
And I am reminded of
A young man named Angelo
With a yellow smiley face
Made of Lego's
On his computer desk
In Manchester Hall.

Yellow tinted glasses
Poindexter glasses
Found in a glove compartment
And I stole them.
And John broke them.
And he replaced them, too.
The reality-enhancing glasses
That made green trees greener
And somehow made
The sun less bright.

My mother
Used to think
That yellow was
My favorite color
When I was young.
And maybe it was.

Yellow highlighter lines
In my textbooks.
Futile lines,
As I still didn't
Remember the information
That was yellow.
As if yellow
Makes things
Easier to remember.
Why then, would they
Print textbooks
With black ink
Yellow seems a better choice.
A yellow shirt
And purple shorts
Make my Easter
Egg outfit.

Yellow Gold Bond
Medicated Powder
And yellow ABC logos
A yellow
Citron bottle
Gives memories
Of mixing vodka
And wine coolers
And fun.

Yellow mustard
And a yellow pear,
Hurts my eyes to stare
At yellow.
But I eat off the yellow plate
And from the yellow bowl
When I go home.
To perpetuate
The myth that
Yellow is still
My favorite color
For my mother.
fantastic!  show me more!
loathsome!  let me go!
