.
3:56 “ Thus, to those, who disbelieved, I (Allah) will punish them with a
severe punishment in this world as well as in the Last World, and for
them there will be no supporters.”
3:57 “ And to those, who believed and performed good deeds,
‘Fayuwaffeehim’ (Allah will give them in full) their reward. And Allah
does not like ‘Zalimeen’ (who are unjust, disbelievers).”
3:58 “ This is what We recite to you (Holy Prophet
) are the Verses
and the Reminder of Wisdom (i.e. Al-Quran).”
3:59 - 63 MUBAHILA - CHALLENGE
3:59 “ Indeed, the example of Jesus before Allah is the example of
Adam; He created him from the soil and then commanded: ‘Be’ and
there he became.”
3:60 “ This (event about Jesus) is the truth from your Lord; so you
(who listens) must not be amongst those, who doubt (it).”
3:61 “ (Holy Prophet
!), if any one then argues you in it, when the
(clear) knowledge (about Jesus) has come to you, say:‘ Let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and
yourselves - and then pray earnestly for the falling of Allah’s curse on
the liars.”*
* It has been reported in Zia-ul-Quran under 3:61 that the Holy Prophet
came out with (his grandsons) Hassan and Hussain, (his daughter) Fatima, and (his son in-law) Ali, when he gave the challenge to the Christian delegation of Najran. But, they did not dare to accept the challenge and accepted the peace accord, agreeing to pay ‘jizya’. This event took place in 10th Al-Hijra, when three other daughters (Ruqayya, Zainab, and Umm-e- Kalsum) of the Holy Prophet had since expired.
3:62 “ Of course, this is the true anecdote (of Jesus), and (remember
that) no one is to be worshipped except Allah, and, surely, Allah is All -
Powerful, All - Wise.”
3:63 “But, if they turn away (from such a belief), Allah is All - Aware of
the trouble makers.”
Note: After stating the facts about Jesus Christ, the Holy Quran invites the People of the Book towards the solid belief in the Oneness of Allah by discarding their false ideas about Jesus and ‘Trinity of God’.
