Umm-e-Salma submitted: ‘ Prophet of Allah! You can’t make these fifteen hundred men to do what they don’t want. Just do your own duty, which Allah has imposed upon you. Please go ahead and perform your own rites yourself - in and an open place so that every one of them can see you. This will be sufficient to make them silly.’ Consequently, the suggestion of Umm-e-Salma worked very well and all the Companions followed the Holy Prophet(Peace be upon Him) after seeing him slaughtering the animal and getting his head shaved. (Encyclopedia for Seerah, Vol.II)

Umma Salma was also a courageous and dauntless lady. In the days, when the Holy Prophet temporarily separated himself from his wives,Umar reproached his daughter Hafsa. Then he called Umm-e-Salma to reprimand her also. But Umm-e-Salma bravely stood against him and snubbed him, saying: ‘ O’ Umar! You have no business to meddle in the family affairs of the Holy Prophet. Keep your hands off from this, and fear Allah.’ Umar at once retired. (Encyclopedia for Seerah, Vol.II) Umm-e-Salma was very intelligent and an able lady. She played a great role in spreading the knowledge of Al-Quran and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet.

Zainab bint Jahsh(Rathiyallaho anha')

10. At this stage, four wives of the Holy Prophet were living (i.e Sauda, Ayesha, Hafsa, and Umm-e-Salma). (Tafheem-ul-Quran. Commentary under 33:50). Note that the believers have been permitted to have four wives at a time (4:3). Nevertheless, the Holy Prophet then married Zainab daughter of Jahsh on the Commandment of Allah, as stated in Al-Quran (33:36-40), so as to break the unnatural tradition that had taken route in the Arab society. It was customary that none could marry the widow or the divorced wife of an adopted son. Such a tradition was exploded, when Almighty Allah commanded the Holy Prophet to marry the divorced wife (Zainab) of his adopted son (Zaid bin Harith). This clearly stated that a cousin sister can be lawfully married and that an adopted son’s wife is not the same as the real son’s wife.(Encyclopedia of Seerah, Vol.II)

11. The Holy Prophet was, of course, given a special privilege to marry a believing women, as stated in Al-Quran, and mentioned below, with regard to his position as a Messenger of Allah entrusted with the duty of conveying His Message to men and women of the world.
