F) The Conquest of Mecca: (Ramadan 10, 8th Al-Hijra)

1. As sated above, immediately after the declaration of the ‘Peace Agreement of Hudaibiya, Banu Khuzaa became the ally of the Muslims, whereas their rival tribe, Banu Bakr, went into the protection of Quraish. The enmity between these two tribes was intensified after the ‘Peace Treaty’. Two years had not passed away, when Banu Bakr attacked the people of Banu Khuzaa in Mecca with the help of Quraish, who not only suplied arms to the former but actively participated in the fight and Punished Banu Khuzaa in the Haram of Kaba. Consequently, the Quraish breached away the Peace Treaty.

2. Under the Peace Agreement, the Muslims were bound to help Banu Bakr, as their ally. Consequently, immediately after the above event, Amr bin Sa’lim and other men of Banu Khuzaa rushed to Madina, and gave full datails to the Holy Prophet about the aggression committed by the Quraish and Banu Bakr against them. The Holy Prophet assured them that they would be definitely assisted.

3. The Quraish soon realized their blunder and sent their leader, Abu Sufyan to Madina to revive the Peace Agreement, since they understood that they could not take the risk of fighting the Muslims. They had already lost their trained warriors and leaders in different battles and that their strong allies like the Jews had been crushed, plus the fact that their economy had been severely shattered.

4. On reaching Madina, Abu Sufyan first went to see his daughter, Umm-e- Habiba. She was also the wife of the Holy Prophet. She did not welcomehim, but rather when he tried to sit on the bed of the Holy Prophet, she removed it away calling him as impious (Mushrik). He then went to see the Holy Prophet, but he did not give any response to him. Abu Sufyan tried to seek help from Abu Bakr, Umar and Ali, but of no use. He returned to Mecca with total disappointment.

5. The Holy Prophet decided to take an immediate action against the Quraish, who betrayed him and broke away the Peace Agreement. He rapidly made full preparations in great secrecy for attacking them with a mighty force without giving them any chance.

6. In the mean time, Habib bib Abu Baltaa, whose family was being tortured in Mecca, sent a secret letter to Quraish through a women about the plan of attack. On knowing about it, the Holy Prophet immediately sent Ali and Zubair bin Awam to recover the letter from her. They ran and got her at the place, as indicated by the Holy Prophet.
