2:174-176 CONCEALING THE TRUTH
2:174 “ Indeed, those who conceal which Allah has sent down from the Book, and purchase small (and useless) benefit , they are those who eat in their stomach nothing but Fire; and Allah will neither speak to them on the Day of Judgement nor purify them (from their sins); and for them is a painful torment.” (2:140,159,283;3:70,71,77,78,85-91,187)
2:175 “ They are those, who bought depravity in lieu of guidance as well as torment rather than forgiveness. After all, what has made them so steadfast (in disbelief) for withstanding the Fire (of Hell)?”
2:176 “ This (punishment) will be given (to them) due to the fact that Allah sent down the Book with truth (which they conceal and distort);
and , of course, those who differed in the Book, they have gone far awayin (their) opposition (just for nothing).”

Concealing the facts of the Book:
Concealing the facts of the Book of Almighty Allah is a great crime, and those committing such an act will be severely punished on the Day of Judgement, as mentioned above in 2:174. The People of the Book not only concealed the facts about the lawful/unlawful, but also about the Last Prophet (2:79;3:77,3:81,157;61:6,Bukhari:2539). Al-Quran states:
a) “ And when Allah took a commitment from those who were given
the Book to inform the people clearly (about the coming of
Muhammad-peace upon him)* and not to conceal it, they ironically
threw it away (i.e. the promise) behind their backs, and purchased
with it a useless benefit. How worst it is that they have purchased?”

b)“ Indeed, those who purchase a useless benefit against their promise
with Allah, and also against their oaths, they shall have no share in
the World Hereafter. Allah will neither speak to them, nor look at
them on the Day of Judgement and nor purify them; and for them
is a painful torment.” (3:77)
