VI. The Gifts in Operation in the Church Today & a Brief Description of their Function

A. The Office Gifts

1. The Evangelist : One who Acts in the Capacity of a Missionary & (or) a Church Planter Primarily. Also to some extent, the Man who goes from Church to Church to Win People to Christ & to Edify the Saints like Paul & Barnabas.

2. The Pastor - Teacher : the Man who Stays with One Local Church to "Shepherd" the Flock and Equip them for the Work of the Ministry.

B. The Speaking Gifts

1. Preaching : to Proclaim the Word of God Authoritatively

2. Teaching : to Explain & Expound Upon the Word of God

3. Exhortation : to Press Toward a Decision to Act Upon the Word of God

C. The Serving Gifts

1. Ministry : to Attend as a Waiter in a Restaurant / to Wait Upon Menially as a Host, Friend, or (Figuratively) as a Teacher / to Serve

2. Mercy : to Have Compassion (Pity) on by Word or Deed - Especially by Divine Grace / Active / Tender

3. Helps : to Take Hold of to Succor / to Participate with / to Relieve / to Support

4. Giving : to Give Over Unselfishly Into the Hand of Another Alongside

D. The Administrative Gifts

1. Ruling (Ruleth) : to Stand Before (i.e. in Rank) / to Preside / to Be Over / to Be In Front of , Prior to , or (Figuratively) Superior to / Refers to the Position & Authority of the Pastor - Teacher's (Elder's) Office

2. Governments : to Steer / Pilotage / Directorship ( in a Church ) a Laity - Leadership Role which would also include Planning, Promotion, and Follow-up

*** Note : Your Particular Area of Spiritual Giftedness may be Discovered in Most Cases by Asking Yourself the the Question of Which of the Above Areas God has Given You a Special Ability & Desire in to Serve Him Effectively in the Building Up of His Kingdom in the Lives of People in and through His Local Church.
