Verse 16 -- A Two-Fold Perspective :
1. The Mission Would be Dangerous for it's
Participants.
2. The Mission Would Require a Very Delicate
Approach.
H. The Pain of the Mission
Verses 17-31
*** The Pain is Bound Up in the Fact that Men Will Oppose
You for Telling them the Truth, & You Will Suffer As a
Direct Result of that Opposition.
1. He Tells them to Beware of Men, because they
Will Hate them, Betray them, Persecute them,
& Deliver them Over to a Kind of Kangaroo Court
Type of Judgement.
Verses 17-23
a. He Tells them that He Has a Purpose for Allowing
them to be Brought into False Judgement, and
that is to Testify Against the Accusers & For Him.

b. He Tells them Not to Worry About How they
Should Answer their Accusers but that God Will Be
With them & Give them the Words to Speak.

2. He Tells them that they Should Not Expect Better
Treatment than He Had Received but to Expect False
Accusations from the People.

3. He Tells them Not to Fear their Persecutors - but to
Fear God.

a. He Says they Shouldn't be Afraid, because the
Hidden Things Will Be Revealed.
Verse 26 -- Satan's Devices Will Be Exposed.
b. He Says they Shouldn't Fear, because their Ene-
mies Can't Destroy their Inner Soul.

c. He Says they Shouldn't Fear, because God is
Watching Over them, & God Values them Highly.

Told them in Secret - in Spite of the Fact that the
Message is Not Popular Among the Hearers.

the Lord Jesus & His Holy Word.
K. The Priority of the Mission
Verses 37-39 -- To Declare the Preeminence of Christ
1. Christ is to Be Preeminent Above All Our Earthly
Relationships.
2. Christ is to Be Preeminent Above Our Own Earthly
Life.
L. The Proxy of the Mission
Verses 40-42 -- They Were Representatives for the
Lord Jesus, and they were to Go as
His Substitutes & With His Authority.
1. The People that Received them Were In Effect
Receiving Christ & His Father.

2. They that Received a Prophet & a Righteous Man
were to Receive their Rewards Accordingly.

3. The Smallest Kind Deed that Would be Done for
them in the Name of Christ would Not Go Unre-
