This week we are especially grateful,as we have a gig on Saturday. LAST WEEK Pete turned 30 and we headed off to the Yak to pay our respects to the cardboard Yak (which upon closer inspection turned out to be more tarpaulin-like than cardboard-like). As we abased ourself, its glowing red eyes burned right through the back of our heads. It spoke to us. It intoned, "I have watched you, my children. On many Thursday evenings you have given me your music. Your devotion has not gone unnoticed, and it will not be unrewarded. You will play here on May 31. I offer you this inflatable dinosaur. May it serve you as you serve me." The eyes faded and it said no more. THIS WEEK Thanks to the grace of the resident deity, we play this Saturday at the world famous Yak Speakeasy, 160 Hoddle St., Abbotsford (near Collingwood station). The evening begins at 8.30pm. Also on the bill is folk, bluegrass and ragtime extraordinaire John Dale. John is a much more seasoned, and to be honest, accomplished, musician than ourselves; he's definitely not our "support" (whatever that means). Thus, it's by no means certain at this stage that he will be playing before us. So if you decide to come & want to see all of our set, it may not be entirely safe to drop by at, say, 9.30. We've attached a flyer to this email just in case you feel like doing a bit of free advertising for your 186th favourite band. JJJ UNEARTHED We sent off our entry. We had a look at the number of entries JJJ received for their unearthing of South Australia, which took place recently. A quick count revealed an approximate total of 720 entries. As South Australia is not one of our most populous states, once can only wonder how many entries will be received from Victoria. Statistically speaking, it is very likely that the Dr. Finbar Trio will remain in the ground. Hopefully, though, we will germinate like a clutch of neglected potatoes, and eventually find our own way to the surface. WEBSITE You *may* have noticed that the old Dr. Finbar website is now defunct. From its scattered remains, a new website is being forged. We have a prototype up and running already. It will be ready for inspection soon... That's all for now, The Dr. Finbar Trio
