Monday, December 2, 2002 11:47 am Dr. Finbar is Compelled to Choose Between Equidistant Bales of Hay Hello once again, Summer is here. That brings us all one season closer to many inscrutable things. Fortunately, you do not have to wait for another season to see the Dr. Finbar Trio. LAST WEEK Owing to the fact that our heads were buried deep within a bass drum (courtesy of the Tramway Hotel), we were unable to play last week. I imagine that we looked pretty foolish walking around with a bass drum on our heads. Or perhaps it was an improvement. Who can say? It's probably best not to mention what we had to do to extract ourselves from that situation, but we were certainly feeling rather sore and sorry for ourselves afterwards. THIS WEEK This week, you have two opportunities to see us play at open mike nights. Opportunity 1: Tuesday evening, The Ninth Ward, city, corner of Elizabeth St. and Flinders Lane. Acts start from around 8.15 Opportunity 2: Thursday evening, The Yak Speakeasy, 160 Hoddle St., Abbotsford, near Collingwood Station. The evening commences around 8.15-8.30. A HOME VISIT FROM THE DOCTOR? Dr. Finbar always tries to look after his patients. If you are having a party and feel that it might be enhanced (or at least, affected) by our presence, then let us know. We will be only too happy to bring our gear over and play just for you (and your friends). You may also be interested in our new sideline initiative, the Dr. Finbar Old Time Band. We're keen to do the retirement village circuit, so if your grandparents (or preferably, your great-grandparents) are having a gathering, then get us along. We'll sort them out for you. We're also keen to do some stuff with (er, for) the kiddies, but we need to write some dance music first. Enjoy the first heady week of summer, The Dr. Finbar Trio
