| 5. Dec. 2004- What's in a Nickname? | ||||||||
| Alrizzle for shizzle kiddies. Your dizzle Dr. Ew will tell you a little something about nicknames. Now we've all been given nicknames over the years, and they all represent something. Some people are nicknames "Chip" because they may be a chip off the old block. Some people are nicknamed "Ace" because they're good at playing cards. Nicknames are givcen to us because we have done something special, but the really special people are the ones too cool for any ordinary nickname. The really special people are those like J-Lo and P. Diddy, who can only be given usable nicknames by themselves. They are truly the radd?est of the rad. Now one thing about giving yourself a nickname is that it secures your insecurities. The best example is J-Lo (I'm not mentioning the real name, so technicaly, this isn't slander.). J-Lo is so insecure about herself that she had to give herself the nickname. Granted it stuck, but still the fact that someone felt that secure that they had to give themself a nickname is just laughable. Let's move on to P. Diddy. Why did he have to give himself a nickname? He already had a suitable one with Puff Daddy. I don't see why he needed a new one. Did he think that P. Diddy was cooler (Ok. It kinda is.)? I guess only he will know sincehe was the one who gave himself the nickname. The next nicknamed person I shall mention is "Suge" Knight. Now I can kinda understand why he gave himself the nickname (I'm guessing that since nobody has laid claim to giving him the nickname.) because I would do the exact same if my real first name were "Marion", wouldn't you? Alright, you may be thinking that all I've touched on is three people, and none of them are white, so the final nicknamed person I will bring up is Tre Cool. Now that is a nickname given by the person that is truly the coolest. Why is it the coolest? It's Tre Cool. Need I say more? It has "Cool" in it. What could be more cool than that? In conclusion, nicknames are only really cool if someone gives you the nickname. Otherwise, it's just you making up for your lack of something. Madonna prefers to be called "Esther" because she wants to be more Jewish. J-Lo prefers her nickname because she appearantely does not like her real name. P. Diddy uses his nickname because he hated his old one. Any questions? |
