| Well the election has been over for almost two weeks now, and the Democrats are still pissed about it. It's still better than in 2000. At least Democrats are not protesting like the last time. Either way, would we really be better off with John Kerry as President? Think about it. Kerry also opposed same-sex marraige, so that problem would not be better. Kerry would not have pulled out of Iraq, so that problem would not exactly be solved. Personally, I think that love and politics should never mix. As we found out with New Jersey Governot Jim McGreevy, you never know who could come out at any moment. Remember which Vice President's daughter is gay, and which Presidential candidate's campaign exploited it throughout the whole campaign. Also, would you want a change in commander-in-chief of the armed forces during the middle of a war? The only times we have changed leaders during a war was because we had to. Toward the end of World War II, FDR died. Truman could not run in 1952 during the Korean Conflict because of term limits. JFK was shot dead, andLBJ did not want to run in 1968 during the Vietnam War. The United States has never unseated a President during the middle of a war. Why should we have now. A new commander-in-chief of the armed forces could have meant disaster for the troops. Now we come to Social Security. We all know Social Security is going to hell, and there really is not much that can be done to fix it. The best idea is privatizing it. What Bush wants to do is make Social Security like a bank account. Everyone gets one, and the payments go into that account. That way, Social Security can never go bankrupt. A fee for the accounts is only necessary. You have to make money to get money. Your bank charges you money to hold an account, even if you don't get interest on it. Next, we go to the campaigns themselves. Here is everything I got out of John Kerry's campaign: "Vote for me! I served in 'Nam!", "Vote for me! I've got a tan!", "Vote for me, dudes! I take it to the extreme on my snowboard!", "Vote for me! I play football with my running mate!", and "Vote for me! I like to windsurf!". What does that translate to campaign-wise? Jack shit! Absolutely nothing. John Kerry's campaign got nothing through to me. Now before you accuse me of being closed-minded, let me say this. I wasn"t a huge fan of Bush either. I just didn't think that Kerry would do a good enough job. I felt that John Kerry, or Mr. Heinz as I call him at times, was hiding behind his big words and intelligent-sounding rhetoric. I didn't think that John Kerry had the slightest clue what he was talking about. At least George Bush knew what he was talking about. At least George Bush was appreciative of those who helped him, such as Poland. Lastly, we go to the issue of closed-mindedness. Now I am aware that both viewers of my website (Thanks Mom!) may wonder what closed-mindedness has to do with politics. Here it is. The Democrats keep accusing the Republicans of being closed-minded. The Democrats are as closed-minded, if not more, than the Repulicans. Take such prominent Democrats as John Kerry, John Edwards, Rob Reiner, Howard Dean, and especially Michael Moore. They keep bashing the Republicans and making false accusations of them. Does George Bush really own a timber company? No he does not. He has investments in a timber company, but he does not own one. John Kerry decided to accuse Bush of owning one and reaping benefits from it durng the second debate. Ok. Here is my final thought on politics. The best thing to do is to stay the fuck away from them. That means that if someone tries to get you to vote for someone, ignore them. When someone tries to get you to sign a petition, turn them away. When someone wants to watch a debate on television, snatch the remote from them. And when someone gets pissed off after the election, and won't let anyone hear the end of it, then please, for all of us who don't want to hear about it, tell them to shut up and deal with it. For crying out loud, it's sore losers that make the country a crappy place to live. I could care less who wins in the political races just so long as the supporters of the candidate who lost would get over it. It isn't the end of the world. There will always be a next time, and maybe the candidate that the supporters are supporting will win. Remember when Grover Cleveland lost his bid for a second term? He ran again the next time and won back the Presidency. Remember when Nixon lost in 1960, and came back in 1968 and won the Presidency? The main point of this is that politics mean shit. I'm not saying that you shouldn't go out there and vote. I'm just saying that knowing about politics is ok, but when politics get out of hand is when problems get started. So go out there, and tell all of those political activists out there that they can all go fuck off! |
