April 15th, 2004I work at a movie theater, and I was dying to see this movie when it first came out. Everyone at the theater who saw it said it was great. Many of my co-workers were moved to tears. Because of all this I was expecting to see a great movie.
Unfortunately it wasn't. I mean it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I guess I probably would have liked it more if I was a Christian, but whatever. The fact of the matter is, there wasn't much to this film. It's basically just a bunch of scenes of Jesus getting his ass kicked. Very gorey too. No one under 10 should go see this movie if you ask me. They could be emotionally scarred by all the brutal and explicit violence. Jim Caviezel was pretty good as "the One", but he really didn't have to do much but look like he was in pain.
If you're a devoted Christian, then I'm sorry. No just kidding. Seriously, you will probably like this movie. If you're not a Christian, you still may enjoy it, but just don't expect a masterpiece.
