May 23, 2004This film was so terrible I almost can't even put it into words.
For starters, the movie had nothing to do with the video game it was based on. And it's not like they took artistic liberties so they could make the story more interesting or something. It seems like they just wrote down the first thing they thought of and made it into a movie. For those of you who don't know ( SPOILERS BEGIN HERE ) a meteor crashed into earth a really long time ago and it created a parallel universe where dinosaurs evolved into humans. And of course Mario Mario and Luigi Mario (yes, their last name is Mario in the movie) get sucked into the parallel dimension. It's really nothing like the game is at all either. Instead of having super mushrooms, there is this fungus that grows all over the place, that kind of helps mario and luigi. I think the only thing in the movie that was kind of accurate from the game was the Bob-ombs.
See the sad thing here is, this isn't even funny like some really bad horror movies can be. It's just bad. If you wanna see how not to make a movie, just watch it and you'll see.
